based on what i've read on here about them, sound-wise and price-wise, i was thinking i'd order one for kick.
then i also read that they were pretty good for toms. and since they're significantly cheaper than 421s (if i'm going to be needing 3 of them), i thought that they might be a good idea...
Re: it's a Nady brand wireless mike
i got a pair of mk012's from guitar center for 99 bucks...they have -10 db pads - not a switch, but a little screw in thingy, for lack of a better term ;]
sorry to bump this thread again, but i just re-read it and i realized that i had misunderstood your response here.
what exactly is a "multiple input PC sound interface?"
when i read it before i guess i thought it was like a soundcard...with like 8 inputs or something.
now i wonder if you...
ermm, i don't think i said anything about getting an 8 channel board? if so i didn't mean to. that ramsa is like 20 channels i believe.
sorry to keep throwing out random model numbers, lol, but what about a mackie 24x8? what would be a good deal on one? (theres a few for sale near me).
thanks :]
i figured that the most i'd probably be recording at once is 10 tracks - snare, kick, 3 x toms, 2 x overheads, and a few left over in case i get room mics or something.
if i had enough channels to do live tracking with my band that would be cool too, but i know that would probably cost a lot...
oh yeah, i know thats not that much for everything.
i meant to say that i have up to $700 for a mixer alone right now, and that i would be willing to spend more than that too.
and it would be for recording rock bands, so drums, guitar, bass, and vox...nothing special for now at least.
once...
right now i have some generic sound card...i don't know what it is but i doubt it would be good for recording, heh.
i've heard good things about that audiophile card you suggested, but i figured that i would need something with more inputs...
thanks again for the help guys :]
sorry...i knew i left something out :]
at this point, i'm planning on recording normal rock band type stuff...drums, guitar, vox, and bass. i don't think i'll be doing any live tracking any time soon, but if i can, i guess thats a bonus, heh.
so, i figured i'd need a minimum of 10 inputs - 1...
i posted this over in the mixing forum too but i didn't get any responses. figured i'd try over here cause it is a pretty newbie question, heh.
anyways, i think i wanna get me a mixer before i start buying mics or outboard gear or anything.
i basically want something that i can continue to use...
i would imagine you would want to do them the screaming parts separately...if for no other reason than so he "saves his voice" for the other parts.
but i don't know what the hell i'm talking about ;]
my 2 cents (based on my very limited experience)...
i'm going to go with no - don't double track them...although i guess it depends on what type of music, the singer, what you're going for, etc.
most singers aren't good enough to do it well enough that it will sound cool. like someone else...
oh and in case it matters:
i don't have any other gear yet, but i'm not too concerned with the board's pres, as i assume i'll have to buy outboard ones later either way. at this point it looks like i'm going to be recording to a PC.
i can't think of anything else that would matter. if i left...
while i'm very still new to recording, i want to get something that i won't outgrow and have to replace any time soon, as i'm pretty sure that this is something i'll want to continue to do for quite some time. i think i want my first gear purchase to be a mixing console, and it seems like this...
cool!
thanks for the help guys.
i have about $700 bucks right now but i'm willing to spend however much i need to so that i won't "outgrow it" and have to upgrade any time soon. don't know if that means saving more or what? anyways, i'll check out those brands, and i do know i'll need pres...
basically, i'm just learning the basics of recording right now. i don't even know if i'm using the right terminology, lol. but anyways, even though i know just about nothing about this stuff so far, i wanted to get a good sound card so that i won't need to upgrade it if i keep going with this...
