Yeah you'll be a little short...
but if you can find a deal on used hardware, the best is DP4 software, MOTU 828 interface, and an external HD w/ 40 gigs or more.
Cooool!
This foundation is being poured in Japan or the Phillipines? $50 K from the ground up seems a little light? Maybe not in the Phillipines? This will be a pro set-up for renting out?
You need a pre amp
Bring the signal up BEFORE it goes into the board. Your other choice is to paly the bass through your amp, and mic that.
I prefer not to do DI recording, I mic my bass cabs.
You should end up with a stereo recording unless your soundcard is mono. In that case, get a new soundcard.
As for the hiss, is it tape hiss? Recorded with Noise Reduction? Played back with NR?
The set sounds good
I like the tuning on the toms; yeah, you have some rattles and snare issues. The recording levels are way too low, especially on the bass end of the spectrum. Give the whole signal a boost on the way out of the Mbox, and boost the EQ for the Blue on the low end.
I like the way this thread is developing...
go ahead and post that link here. ;)
Drums are the toughest sound for me to capture, I think it's my room. Or my mics. Probably my skills, eh?
I sense you are pulling my leg...
but yes, a TASCAM 424 is just the thing for you. A portable enough cassette deck, a scratchpad, and you can complete your demo with more tracks after you're sure it is worthy of your time and effort.
