Huge influx of idiots to the forum? or just me?

Actually, I would help with that question. The ones that drive me up a wall are on the guitar forum like "Who's better Jane or Jack" or the always poular "Which is better a red Squire or a blue Squire". I don't think that racking up some posts would qualify someone either. The only thing that...

    Need a Gibson expert!

I have a 150DC. http://home.comcast.net/~bonrox/guitars/150dc.htm DC = Double cut. It is walnut and does have a master volume that was installed by Gibson. This is an awsome axe. The master volume allows you to balance the 2 pickup volume controls and bring them both up with one knob. This is...

    Mastering?

Let's see if I am geting this right: We have a bunch of musicians out here that spend a lot of time on the internet and master their own CDs. Is it any wonder that they can't afford software and equipment? Can anyone say DUH! How does everyone feel about their music going on an unpaid for MP3...

    BBE Sonic Maximizer

Actually, I like my BBE 482. I have that pluged into the send/return of my TSL 100, and a Black Finger tube compressor frontending it. That's all I need. I love the sound it produces. But that is me.....so plug it in and see if you like it, cause that is the only thing that matters.

How to play a 12 string guitar?

Actually, I saw them last year with REO Speedwagon. I am here to tell you that rock and roll will not keep you young. There is a reason that somone invented retirment. But overall, they were not to bad at all. I did enjoy the show.

How to play a 12 string guitar?

I don't use fingerpicks. I find a 12 is just as easy to fingerpick as a 6 is. But I have been playing 12s for 30 years or so. http://home.comcast.net/~bonrox/guitars/roxy.htm That is my custom 12 from Gibson. I have a couple of accoustic 12s also. I find the sound is awsome on recordings...

Let's Break It Down: How Many CDs Have You Sold?

Well, we are on our third, thousand order. No recording company backing, it was self produced and mastered at Sterling in New York. Most sales at shows, but some on CD baby and a couple of local stores. We have a lot of tshirt sales too.

are there any guitar notation programs?

I have a Roland synth which puts out midi. That is really the only practical way to do it. You can plug in a Roland Ready Strat which you can get for a few hundered. There are basically 2 parts to doing it. The first is a GK2 pickup which will provide 6 pickups (one for each string) with 6 lines...

Stop from going out of tune

Of course you should tune your drums to a given scale and to exact notes. When people say 'tune them to where they sound good', they are tuning them to a given scale. That is why they sound good!! I am a guitar player for 30 years that took up drums. What I found is that most drummers don't...

starting record company -- this is not a poll

What we are saying is it's not worth starting a business over. Say you dump $500 into CDs. That's maybe about $50 back from the government and a whole mess of paperwork to get it. I know in PA it cost me $1,000 to just start my business. That is just to file the paperwork with the various...

    Advise needed on Marshall Amps

Personally, I got rid of most of my boxes when I got my TSL100. Simply put, I think Marshall tube amps are fantastic. But that is just my opinion and many others here would disagree. The one box I kept was my BBE Maximiser. I have seen that make most amps, solid state or tubes, sound great. It...

starting record company -- this is not a poll

I guess what 2lim is trying to say, is that you are going to the government and starting a business. As a business, you need to show incoming cash otherwise, you are not a business. Also, there is a yearly cost to be a business, so are the tax write-offs worth it? (accountant, business taxes...

Sony BMG to Settle New York Payola Investigation

Personally, I don't see much wrong with payoffs. We take clients to lunch all the time. Take them to golf outings, give donations to scholarship funds for their employees and so on. Hell, one of my brother-in-law's vendors, takes him marlin fishing in mexico every year. It's the way we do things...

Who's Who in the music industry?

Actually, it's a book. It's called the recording industry bible, or something like that. Go down to a good book store and they should have it, or something like it.

    Re-stringing 12-string problem

12 string necks will bend as you bring it up to tune. 12 strings are a lot of pull on the neck and bridge. So that said, 1. you may have put lighter strings than were on before 2. If you are drop tuning at all that can cause it as well I have accoustic and electric 12s. You need to have them...

How Do You Get Your Music To The Big Labels?

Guys, the key to the record companies is the radio. It's been that way for the past 60 years, and I don't see it changing any time soon. Why, because if you don't have a few million fans, you will not sell a million records, and if you can't sell a million records, then they cannot make a good...
