What recording/mixing software are you using?

Well, I'm a musician, don't want to be a producer or engineer. I'll leave that to the pros! I've used Sonar 6 PE, Cubase, N-Track, Pro-tools 7 and I've shelved them all. T3 may be the musicians dream come true. Extremely easy to use, VERY intuitive, great mastering tools and I've accomplished at...

So why should I switch to Cubase

This is exactly what I was asking! So can you elaborate just a bit on the diffrences of the 2 hosts? Like you said Sonar is very confusing and time consuming (which I don't have a lot of). Even though I've figured most of it out a lot of it still looks like latin to me. All I'm asking for is...

So why should I switch to Cubase

Hi Xt, The basics I have down. In fact I have most of sonar down pretty well. I've already recorded a few tunes with it. My original post was a bit of an exageration. I should know better than to make those assumptions on line. Basically I'm looking for an allternative host to use, that as I...

So why should I switch to Cubase

Thanks for the helpful advice Boogle ... I'm not new at recording just looking for something more user friendly. Anybody else have some more useful/constructive advice than the above like mabe compariing features and ease of use? eg, Audio Snap in Sonar is really a hit and miss...

So why should I switch to Cubase

I'm using Sonar 6 PE right now but man, it's a pain in the ass to learn and edit. I'm thinking I should change Hosts so I can do what I do best , and that is just play and record rather than spend the last 2 months reading manuals and getting basicly nowhere.

    Sonar 6 Studio or PE

I currently run HS6XL but desperately want Audio Snap and a bunch of other features in studio and or PE. Decided to do the upgrade but not sure which edition I should go for. Is there a big enough difference between the 2 to go for the PE? Plan on using all the features included!

Wharfe 8.2A or KRK RP6 (active)

I've had the wharfs 8.2 pro actives for 2 1/2 years now. One monitor died on me a few weeks ago, now the other is blowing fuses like crazy. This is not a coincidence when 2 seperate monitors experience almost identical probelms no more than a few weeks apart. Great sounding speakers but you get...

    44k,48k, 88k, 96K?

Thanks for taking the time to reply Tim. I tried out the different sample rates today and watched my cpu usage jump from 14% to 40 - 45%. After I forced my jaw back into my mouth I immediately reset it to 24bit/44.1KHz. Advice taken whole heartedly!

    44k,48k, 88k, 96K?

So what really is the difference in these sample rates? Does higher sample rate improve recording and sound or is it just basically used for live use? I'm usig the presonus Firebox with Sonar HS 6XL with Guitar Rig 2 Windows XP SP2 Duo Core motherboard AMD 64 3700+ 1 Gig ram Axiom 61 MIDI kybrd

It's never as smooth as you'd hoped is it! GEARBOX PROBS!

sounds to me like you have your buffers set too low.I usuall avoid zero latency like the plague. Start at your lowest settings and gradually increase your buffer size closing and opening you app each time. Also disable or unplug any USB devices you don't use, also your on board souncards if you...

So how much money is fair

Well thanks for the replies folks. 50/50 seems to be the common ground which is what we agreed upon in the 1st place. I've pretty much told him to find another guitarist to do his original stuff with but I would still continue to do live shows with the guy. We split those down the middle so no...

So how much money is fair

Well I'm not an unreasonable person, since he wrote about 60% of the material I would have agreed to 60/40 on his material, but 75/25 is just nuts.

So how much money is fair

Actually this was ironed out. We both agreed when we 1st started this project that it would be 50/50 all the way. I would not have spent 7 months on the material otherwise. Personally I think this is his wife's idea. He's really a "honey do" kind of guy. Won't do anything unless he gets her...
