I support the "learning from what you're doing" theory...and I to find myself from time to time replicating what others do. Cause I think it sounds good. I use it in my own beats/music whenever I feel it fits...but if I clash up some beat with an 808 kit and some hp synthsound with a catchy...

There's no way to "update" the pattern. If I may...The next time you program your drums you only use the pads on the redrum to make up a draft for your beat. Then, after you've put it down in the seq you alter it from there. I never use the pads on the redrum, I mostly tap my stuff in as X man...
