I'm a little confused about Mixers

Okay.... this is clearing up a little. Lets say though, if every channel had an insert, then could you put the insert into the soundcard? Or are the busses in stereo? And I don't see why you would record the mains because that would defeat the purpose of having a multi channel soundcard...

I'm a little confused about Mixers

I'm a little confused about Mixers

Well I want to record drums... but I don't want to drop like 1000 on JUST a mixer. A friend of mine told me that he has an ADAT sound card and he can record up to 8 tracks at a time with his mixer. But I am confused about it because he uses a Behringer 12 track mixer, and I KNOW that its an...

    Mixers w/ ADAT

A few Questions... First can an analog mixer have ADAT i/os? And Secondly if that analog mixer has ADAT i/o, does that mean that your computer can record multiple tracks to the sequencing program at once? If so whats a decent analog mixer I can find with ADAT i/os? ~darknail

I'm a little confused about Mixers

Okay lemme see if I got this straight. Now the point of having a soundcard with multiple in's out's is so that you can mix down to outboard gear. Right? Now if you chose to do all you mixing/mastering ONNNNN the computer wouldn't a digital mixer make more sense? Help!!!! ~darknail

    Recording Guitar Questions

Hey I've been doing a lot of recording with my computer. Right now what I do is use a Jstation, and record 2 guitar tracks each using a different amp model. Well, Its not really cutting it so what I'm doing now is building an isolation box for my amp. I'm planning to record using 4 sm57 mics...

    OD/Distortion Pedals

When I play distorted rhythm parts, 90% of the time I don't use effects at all. The signal runs like this to the amp. Guitar -> Volume -> Wah -> Noise Gate -> Amp | |...

    OD/Distortion Pedals

Pickups aren't the problem. Usually when I get a guitar I'll fit them with new pup being either DiMarzio, SD, or PRS (EXPENSIVE!!!) unless the guitar has one of those already in them. An EQ pedal is a good thought though..... Has anyone tried a T-Rex Mudhoney Distortion Pedal, or any Tonebone...

    drum samples

Free?!?!?! HAAAA!!!! If you want really good sounding acoustic samples, you have to BUY the Drumkit from Hell 2. Its Perfect for Rock/Metal. Thats what I use it for. The thing is about this, is that it's actually a VSi, DXi, plugin and not individual WAV samples. Its recorded by the drummer...

    OD/Distortion Pedals

I use a fender deluxe (I think) which is an all tube amp and has great cleans, but as many of you know, fender isn't very good at gain. I would love to get a tube head. I play the deluxe through a bogner ubershall cab and get plenty of volume, but not the gain im looking for. I would also...

Hey guys!! I'm looking to upgrade my project studios monitors, I am usings M - Audio Studiophile monitors, but the 6" woofer isn't getting the job done. Not enough bass response, or punch. I know I could get a subwoofer, but thats a plan for another day. I am looking for the best bang for...

    OD/Distortion Pedals

the reason i say complicated is because a lot of the chords that i play are extended chords and encompass 2+ octave range, and when that occurs, the bass notes usually drown out the upper melody therefore loosing lots of definition. You say you stay away from stompboxes. What kind of amp do...

    OD/Distortion Pedals

Any input? I play prog rock/metal. I need a pedal that will give me crunchy power chords, and sharp single notes, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNDDDDDDDDDDD clarity when playing complicated chords. Ideas? ~dnb

    midi delay?!??!

Hi. I just bought a M-Audio Keystation 49e, and I'm using Cakewalk Homestudio 2004 XL. My computer is a custom built one running an adm athlon 2000+ around 1.6ghz and running 786mbs or RAM. Thing is, when I play the keyboard using softsynth, It lags like hell, and I can't play in time at all...

    Computer Recording Setup...

That's almost too much work. If you are mixing in Cubase, why not just mix it right there. You'd be adding a generation of processing by putting it to an out board mixer and then back into the computer, which will degrade your overrall sound quality. Usually what people do is put a mixer b4...

audiophile not getting the job done

Hi I have an M Audio audiophile in my PC that doesn't get the job quite done. This is mainly due to the fact that it doesn't have any MIDI synth in it. I use my PC to capture inspiration, and to do arrangements on songs. So the midi synth is essential for me. Any recomendations? I was...

    dive bomb

hey if u want to get a cool sounding whammy effect, do the satch scream. play an open b string pinch harmonic and pull up on the bar. Its kind of tricky to get at first but once u get it, it sounds awesome. satch uses two hands to do it, and thats how i do it, but vai (since hes the master)...
