    Getting it Down

Mr. Kahuna. I had'nt noticed how lame the very begining of this song was until you pointed it out. I was using the trigger feature on the recorder and just left it without thinking about it. An edited version was uploaded today. And yes the panning is a bit extreme so along with some of these...

    Getting it Down

Thanks for the compliments. I agree, making canned drums sound real is a problem, more so on this tune probably because the bell cymbal on the upbeats tends to stand out. The "swing" feature was only on 50%.If I turn it up much more the beat goes spazz. I'll try programming the pattern with the...

I'm glad you like my songs, thank you. What I'm doing here is woodsheding. Recoring yourself, listening with a critical ear and getting input from others is a real good way to improve 'cause "the tapes don't lie".I have'nt had any formal training in spanish guitar or much else for that matter...

Thanks for the feedback, it's much appreciated. I'm playing a Jackson Stealth, a discontinued japanese model with Seymour Duncan pic-ups and a '76 Les Paul also with S.D. picups through an ART SGX pre-amp. I take three stereo outputs from the pre-amp and run it through a mixer with an Alesis...

How you all doing. I decided the hell with it and put all my songs so far['cept the unrecorded ones] at my site. I hope you like it and maybe these tunes will provide some ideas from my rather limited instrumental genre. As you likely know making a living does'nt leave much time for recording so...

    I'm on the web.

The artwork was off the internet,of course. I don't have a scanner or I'd have put a photo of me or my rusty orange VW van on there. [This message has been edited by HoGung (edited 02-23-2000).]

    I'm on the web.

Thanks to you all,I appreciate that.On the D-8 the sound was about how I wanted it before it went in then I'd fix it up some if it needed it on mix-down with a little eq or compression or whatever....I didn't use much of the D-8's other effects. The guitar is a Jackson Stealth [japan...

Any good use for SR-16 MIDI?

Oh ya, MIDI. There's probably more applications than this but.......I've used the sr16 to drive the tremelo, delay etc. in a lexicon mpx 100,to drive the drum patches in a nano snyth, synced with a boss 770 for sound stacking and to record midi clock into a korg d-8 so the recorder will drive...

    Capacitor Change

Capacitors in your typical passively wired set-up only affects the highs.

    Capacitor Change

Differently rated capacitors will cut more or less treble depending on their rating in farads. They are cheap and you can experiment with different ones and different wiring configurations. The tone control on a stock Strat just controls the amount of highs going to ground(technology unchanged...

    DR-770 programing Q.

Hola. How do I get my Boss Dr-770 to play a cymbal crash at the end of a fill(on the downbeat of 1) at the beginning of the original or variation pattern? It does it OK on the presets but I can't get it to happen on the user patterns. My alesis SR-16 does it automaticly. What am I missing here...

    hard disk recording pain!

Colombo. When using an external drive on the d-8 be sure: The ex. drive is energized before the d8 or the d8 won't recognize it.The ex. drive's ID # does not match the d8's ID #.The ex. drive last in the chain is terminated. And the disc has been initialized or formated.Push "edit"then "<" then...

    the pot problem

When I got a '76 Gibson LP in exellent condition from a trailer dwelling meatle head I figured the mush sound was from the Di Marzio super distortion pic ups and since the price was so low I could afford new pic-ups in the 7-8K range and still come out ahead.Unfortunatly after installing a nice...

    Electric Guitar Recommendations

If you are in a hurry the best for the price will probably be Charvel, the Jacksons from Japan, Ibanez or Yamaha. If you are not in a hurry keep your eyes open and a deal may come along.I got a cherry '76 Les Paul custom from a guy living in a travel trailer for 600$. [This message has been...

    External Hard Drives

Hello.I need to hear from anyone who has been using removeable external hard drives on stand alone digital recorders.I have a Korg D-8 with a SyQuest 1.5 gyg drive that works fine except SyQuest is 10-7 and the drive cartridges (when I can find them) are expensive.Has anyone here used the Orb...

    4 creates 16?

Hey,ya'll.Boy,ask a simple question.I been there with the 16 traks into 2 with a 4-trak cassette and it's a pain in the neck even with another machine.Like the man said, upgrade.I saved up,got me a 8-trak digital and it was like when I moved from my single wide tornado catcher to a new three...
