Okay, so like the title says, I'm looking for a descent, but cheap first keyboard. The problem is that I'm a guitar player and don't know the first thing about keyboards. I really don't want to spend any more than $200. It has to be self amplified too. Any suggestions?
 The drums are already too stand out'ish why on earth would you turn them up?!? I am listening of shitty laptop speakers, but still...
I dig the first half of the solo. Second half just sounds like it needs more thought and development. I often have the same problem myself.

If you want to have enough inputs to properly record live drums then cheap is not really an option. Also, if you want, as you say, for things to sound descent, you won't want to go with "the cheapest equipment i could buy to make this happen". Basically, if you budget is $500-$700 is just...
My cousin/drummer just quit his regular job to focus on starting his own studio. He has spent a lot of time paying his dues, working for very little or even nothing at a local studio. I also know another guy who runs a small local studio out of his basement and makes a "comfortable" living at...
I thought it was the guy from Meshuggah that did the drumkit from hell?
There is usually tons of reverb on the snare on Bergatrand produced records. Seriously tons. The sound on Come Clarity is not as extreme as some records he has recorded. To me it almost sounds like a drum with the snares...
Humbuckers on a strat = a cheap way to get a wicked tone. My Strat is the only electric guitar I own and I love the way it plays, but single coils suck for metal and I don't have the cash for a second guitar. So for a $110 mod, I got a guitar that plays awesome and has the tone I want...
Don't feel too bad. An old guitar player of mine got pissed off at something I did (I don't even remember what) and he threw his SG at me. Snapped the headstock right off. Your busted jack is nothing. Shit'll buff out.
I can't even afford a descent amp never mind all that stuff. It would be cool to have though. I wonder if he would lend it to me for a bit of recording? ;)
Ok, so we have been trying to figure out how Danial Bergstrand (the engineer responsible for newer In Flames records, Soilwork's last record, and more) gets the snare sound he does. As with most metal of that sort, there is lost of sound replacing and triggering going on, but there seems to be...
I have a Boss GT-6 and it does everything I want it to. I could be wrong, but I don't think there are that many extra features in the updated GT-8, so if you are budget concious, not concerned about having the absolute latest and greatest, and can still find one, it would be an awesome option.
