No, they are not identical. Maybe that's the problem. One is 512mb of Corsair DDR PC2700 and the other is 512mb Crucial PC2100. Does that mean they won't run in dual mode even set to the slower timing? Do you need the EXACT same stick (brand, model, etc.) to do such a thing?

That's a latency problem, and may be difficult to fix unless you have a decent soundcard. What midi and audio interfaces are you using? And are you using it for virtual instruments?
