This is what I recommend. Find some various recordings of fingerpicked guitar whos sound your trying to get close to. Make several different recordings of yourself using the various mic'ing techniques you know about and at least as many variations and unique combinations as you can come up...

Another vote for the CAD m179 ..... varialble pattern, nice open sound, not too bright, takes eq pretty well, and great bang for buck. -mike

I LOVE my E100. Great on lots of things including kick and bass cabs. I think it has a nice open sound .... fairly neutral, takes EQ well, and really pretty versitile. Sounds good on acoustic guitar and I put it on a hammond cab and got good results. Pretty darn versitile with a good bottom...

I'm not sure what innobidova was implying by there but it does not matter if the OH mics are SD or LD as far as picking up toms or what ever. That would have much more to do with the pick up pattern of the mic .... omni, cardiod, or hypercardiod .... and at least equally importantly ... mic...
