    Roland XP 80

Hello jumpmanjr...I own a Roland XP-50 workstation/keyboard and have an interest in information about the Roland XP line...I came across this interesting link: http://www.zzounds.com/a--2676837/item--ROLXP30 This is my take on the differences between the XP-80 and the XP-30: The XP-80 has 76...

    Soundblaster Live or AC'97?

I've just recently got into recording onto the computer with a Soundblaster Live card...It sounds okay to me (to me the recording rendered is a reasonably clean, clear representation of the sound source)...I would have no idea how relativly bad this card is supposed to be except for what I have...

Yamaha PSR - anybody use them for recording?

I have noticed that if I turn up any of my keyboards all the way (while not playing any notes) that there is an "atmospheric" sound (I guess you could call it "hum" or "hiss" also)...I've never worried about it since I have other issues that weigh more heavily in importance to me at this point...

Yamaha PSR - anybody use them for recording?

I wouldn't bet my life on it but I highly suspect that the sound quality on the PSR-273 is about the same as the PSR-540, (like I said the addition of a 16-track sequencer and disk-drive on the PSR-540 had a lot to do with the bigger price tag...maybe the onboard speakers on the 540 might be...

Yamaha PSR - anybody use them for recording?

Hey jfrog...I don't know if the follow will qualify as an answer to your questions but... I have a PSR-540 (it cost around $350-$400 new about 5 years ago...it is sort of a mid-level PSR, having a 16-track sequencer and a disk-drive)...If this was the only keyboard I had to use I would not feel...

    Keyboard advice please...

In the past I have seen new Roland keyboards advertised in the $300-$400 range...with "home-keyboard" feature descriptions (like having 100 "styles")...I did a quick search on Musician's Friend and could only find Roland "arranger" keyboards for $500 and up...they might have experimented with...

Let's hear your Fantom, Kurzweil, Motif, Triton, Other

Thanks bsr2002 for your reply...I wanted to get to a cable connection to listen to your songs unhindered by the the drawbacks of dial-up and it has taken me a while to do that...I have heard "It's Right" before and I like it...I've read a lot of your posts and you really seem to be into your...

Let's hear your Fantom, Kurzweil, Motif, Triton, Other

Okay my other thread is going nowhere ("Let's hear your songs using Roland XP/JV sounds), Maybe most here are just not into older synths...so instead of getting too specific about models and eras of sound engines and having a thread for each, I've decided to try to save face and just request you...

Let's hear your songs using Roland XP/JV sounds

I just got this Idea...It might be especially interesting to a lot of the keyboard crowd (or maybe not, you let me know)... Here it is...I have a few keyboards (Roland XP-50, Yamaha V50, Yamaha PSR-540)... I would like to hear what other people are doing with the keyboards that I am using, but...

Old Synth and Module -- Sell or Keep?

I had a disk-drive problem...One day, out of the blue, I put a disk in, it made noise like it was loading, but nothing was loading...I took it to the music shop (where the keyboard was originally purchased) which was an authorized Yamaha dealer and they fixed it for $50-$100 (I can't remember...

Old Synth and Module -- Sell or Keep?

If you do decide to get into the V50 I can send you a page of instructions that goes through the basic steps of saving a sequence to floppy-disk. When I first got the V50 (and although I was spending a few hours a day with manual at hand) I was pulling my hair out for three weeks trying to...

Old Synth and Module -- Sell or Keep?

Random thoughts from a Yamaha V50 owner...It's what I could afford at the time, I bought it used over 10 years ago for $850 and I learned how to sequence with it and made a lot of songs on it. The sounds don't blow me away today (especially the drum sounds). I think about selling it sometimes...

    Recording From Keyboard

I use Pyro 2004 to do this (I just looked and it is still available for $29 as a download at this link: http://store.yahoo.com/cakewalkdirect/py20do.html ). Also I have read here that some use the free program Audacity to record and edit audio files.

    "Kingsport Bound"...sort of "Folk Rock"?

Thanks for listening.......by the responses it seems the major weakness of this song (and I agree) is the sound/level/execution of the bass/drum sounds (with varying opinions on the songwriting, vocal, and string sounds). I probably am stuck with the voice I have (since I can't find another...

    I want a keyboard...but I don't know what to look for

Hey Myriad...this is my gut-take on your question...you have 4 options that will give you a palette (a wide variety of sounds) to work with....with some varying degrees of complexity to use, price to pay, and quality of sound... softsynths that work as software in your computer and is...

    Anyone use Audacity?

Hey Neotrix...Don't want to high-jack your thread, but I do want to discuss Audacity. I have taken an interest in Audacity because I have several friends who are musicians and who have decent computers but who have never tried to record with their computers. I wanted to find a free program to...
