    DAW Controllers

That looks awesome. And it's a lot cheaper than I thought. At Sam Ash they told me that all of the control surfaces are about $1000. Eventhough it has only 8 channels, I can bank them so that I control more than 8 channels? Like channels 1-8, then hit a button to control channels 9-16, etc.?

Really need some advise, 5 question about recording/mixing/Preamps

I just started using Cubase LE and am also a newbie, but I'm trying to give back where I can. If you can't make it any louder with the volume control on the track, they have a gain process, where you edit the individual tracks. Haven't used it much, so I can't say how it affects the sound of...

    DAW Controllers

I'm just looking for one that controls the software (i'm tired of using the mouse to move faders and knobs.) The extra firewire is on my firepod. I only have 1 firewire on the laptop and that is connected to my firepod. So I am basically wondering about my connection options and what the...

    DAW Controllers

Just bought my firepod, from bayview, and I have been a joyous, to say the least. :D So, with the firepod, what kind of connection would be good for the DAW controller. I have only 1 firewire port, but can I go through the 2nd firewire port on the firepod? Or how about midi? If I use midi...

Laptop for recording, Desktop for Mixing/Mastering?

Well, I would think that if you are trying to accomplish the 1 dedicated hard drive, you are better off recording onto the external hard drive. A partition is really just a virtual division. The benefits of dedicated a hard drive to recording means that your recording files will not have to...

Laptop for recording, Desktop for Mixing/Mastering?

Okay...from what I can gather and extrapolate, here is the deal. Daisy chain utilizes devices inputs and outputs so that the end device can have a combination of all the signals. Thus, a firepod has 2 EEE1394, one output to the computer and an input (for other firepods, for example.) Thus...

Laptop for recording, Desktop for Mixing/Mastering?

I thought you were only able to daisy chain devices of the same type? I'll search more for 'how to daisy chain', but so far, no specific instructions, if any one cares to illuminate.

Laptop for recording, Desktop for Mixing/Mastering?

Even if this hard drive was a USB external? I'd rather go external since I'd like to switch back and forth, but the inspiron only has 1 firewire port and that'll be used for my firepod.

Laptop for recording, Desktop for Mixing/Mastering?

Okay guys, I finally made some purchases...and to say the least, I was smiling from 8pm until I woke up the next morning. So here's my question. I bought a Dell Inspiron E1505, 1 gb ram, 5400 rpm SATA hard drive, with a duo core 1.66 T2300 chip. So, after research I originally had planned to...

    Computer and Audio Interface

Thank You That was exactly the kind of advice I was looking for and I really appreciate it. Yes, you are right, I want to start with a few pieces of equipment and then see what I need from there. It looks like the firepod is what I'll be going with. Only 1 concern, I notice that buying this...

    Firewire vs. Other

Okay...sorry for so many posts in a row...i finally understand what research and searching is. So, I was considering buying a presonus firepod. It seems that in general people are satisfied with this purchase. Although it seems many people like it for its portability. So, after long thought...

    Computer and Audio Interface

Two questions: 1. What are the specs for a laptop are important for audio recording? 2. I was contemplating buying the laptop and then a presonus firepod. Is the firepod a piece of equipment worth the investment for a beginning studio? Thanks.

You know, I was looking at studio monitors, and they basically look like speakers. So why get studio monitors instead of using my home stereo speakers (infinity's)?
