    Typical... Bedroom layout

Hey guys... So, I am looking for the opitmal layout for my bedroom. I attached a very rough floorplan of the room (it is very rough, but you can get the idea). Its kind of a weird room, and I can't do anythng to change that - no resources to tear down/put up walls, etc. So, how would you...

    What's the deal.

I want to quote something, but I don't know what to pick! It is so great to read everything here... I got over the insecurities of owning a so-called "prosumer" machine real fast - it's great (not that I am saying I am that easily swayed ). I am going to buy whatever 8 track I buy with...

    What's the deal.

Totally true... I couldn't agree more. It just took me a little while to figure that out. I mean, no one tells you these kinds of things when you are doing it yourself! Again, definitely. That is why I love it so much over here! You guys have actually worked with all of the equipment that...

    What's the deal.

So, it's Friday night... I've been searching for the right 1/2" eight-track for a while, and I'm getting a little sick of people saying bad things about the TSR 8 over at gearslutz (or any TASCAM equipment, for that matter). I'll just do a search on google - "Tascam TSR 8"... a bunch of posts...

    Basement College Recording Studio...

So, I went and asked for money for renovating the studio space in our radio station... it's a no go. They've been pretty tight on money, I guess, and spending $700-800 on renovating the studio wasn't in the budget. I will definitely pass along all of this info to whoever takes over... hoping...

    Basement College Recording Studio...

Thanks! I will be coming back to this information in the future when I have some money... thanks again - I really appreciate it.

    Basement College Recording Studio...

Ah Ha! That would explain a little. I moved the desk so it is facing one of the short walls and it seems to have made a big difference already (the listening area is supposed to be 38% of the length of the room - which is, like, 8 1/2' back. Right?). It also frees up a great deal of space...

    Basement College Recording Studio...

Sorry for the delay... Thanks so much! Once I get some funding I will definitely try and make these work - no money right now. Those panels look awesome. I am not sure if I can rip the carpet off the walls just yet, but I will look into it. Does it really affect the sound that much? I...

    Basement College Recording Studio...

Sorry... I probably should have included that. The ceilings are 8' tall and the walls and the floor are covered with very tough carpet. I think the walls are made out of cinder blocks (it is the basement of an old building), and the floor... well, I think it could just be concrete. The...

    Basement College Recording Studio...

Hey guys, First time posting in the Studio Building and Construction forum... I am a music director at a College radio station and I have some questions about the recording studio space we have here. I attached a floor-plan of the room - it's a pretty janky space. I have some concerns about...

    ART Pro VLA II Question

Thanks for the help... I looked over the solder connections inside of the unit, and it definitely looks like there is at least one bad solder. I don't know where I put my soldering iron, but I will fix it as soon as I find it/get another one.

    ART Pro VLA II Question

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but since I replaced the tube that was giving me problems I still have been having the same issue... I've just been too lazy to figure out whats wrong with it. Again, the left channel on my Pro VLA II sometimes works right after I turn the unit on, but it cuts...

    Saxophone Quartet Recording Question

Hey guys... so I'm a undergraduate composition major, and I have some questions about recording a saxophone quartet of mine (that's soprano, alto, tenor, and bari, and the setup is - in a semi circle, from the left - tenor, bari, alto, soprano). I have been reading about micing saxophones, but...

    Tascam 32 tension arms

Wow, thanks. I will see what I can do when I find time... probably this weekend. I'll keep you updated.

    Tascam 32 tension arms

What is the best way to lube up the tension arms on this machine? Everything is working perfectly except that the tension arms don't drop when it reaches the end of a tape. And when there is no tape they don't move around freely like they should... they stick. I am assuming that this is a...

    ART Pro VLA II Question

Thanks for the info. I am actually pretty happy with these JAN-Phillips tubes... maybe sometime down the road I'll get some NOS tubes. I really considered it, but I didn't feel like shellin' out $60 on tubes. ($20 was more in the budget). :)

    ART Pro VLA II Question

Thanks, I will look into that piece. I've heard great things about almost all of FMR Audio's products, but I might just go with the RNC since it is readily available. I still want to try and fix this ART though. I don't know where I'll start, but I'll try and figure it out.

    ART Pro VLA II Question

No, I use it to track as well, but it isn't a problem since the second channel works fine... is that what you're asking? I think I might just pick up an FMR RNC. I am feeling like that might be the way to go. There is one available around here and I have heard so many good things about them...

    ART Pro VLA II Question

So... I guess I didn't ever reply to you guys! Sorry about that (whoops), and thanks for the help. I finally got around to purchasing new tubes for my Pro VLA II just this week (a pair of JAN Phillips 12AT7WC's - yeah, I know how long it took) and the problem is still, well, a problem. I...
