Thanks guys. Well I'm still in the "what do I get to get started" stage for homerecording without breaking the bank. Ergo the plea for advice on cards, mics, monitors and anything else I may be leaving out that I may need.

Thanks tomleblanc, I will be also recording vocals. I have a SM57 and a Ross dynamic mic. Would the SP B1 be better for recording vocal? Maybe I should get one of each--a B1 and MXL603? Would these still be good for recording acoustic instruments? Stereo? How about cables, any recommendations...

Reading this thread has got me thinking about new mics in my future. The 603s sound like they would be good for a stereo pair on acoustics. I just got a new DMP3 and need some condenser mics. Do these come with cables? Any need to get the expensive mic cables? I've also been considering the SP B1.

lil, i own a pair of the Grado 125's and they are the finest headphones I've ever heard for listening to music. However, because of their design you can hear outside noise and sound will be heard by others close by. If this is not a problem I would recommend them. Otherwise get a closed design...

Pratt, the Omni/Delta66 looks good and a little more versatile. I don't think the Delta 1010lt has separate pre amps. Does anyone know what the difference is between the DMP3 and the Audio Buddy? Also what kind of connection (cable) between these pre amps and the Delta 66 or Audiophile 2496...
