    advice on these two songs

haha, yeah, i guess the skull kid song doesn't make much sense if you don't know the story behind it. the skull kid is about a zelda videogame (majora's mask) where the character skull kid feels alienated and steals a powerful mask which ends up controlling him and the hero link has to save the...

what about eq or compression? i don't know much about either but it seems like they are almost synonymous with mixing.

let me know how to improve this mix

I dropped the volume to get rid of the clipping. (I did increase the intro vocals as Ido suggested) Here is the reduced volume track. http://www.lightningmp3.com/live/file.php?id=17671 Thanks again guys for your time, I appreciate it.

let me know how to improve this mix

you're right, im asking about the mix. not the final volume or the clipping. I was telling Ido1957 why the clipping was there in that track. I can just lower the volume to eliminate the clipping. As you said, the clipping isn't my concern. It's the mix.

let me know how to improve this mix

thanks... you're definitely right... there is clipping... the vocals are a pain because the vocalist/rapper couldn't keep a consistent volume. Do you think I should do a track envelope and adjust the volume for each peak and low point? or should i compress? for the overall loudness, i tried to...

    how to automate filter cutoff

thanks for the great reply mixsit. so i add the parametric EQ to the FX bin and when i assign it to the envelope i get to choose from: band 1 gain band 2 gain (band 3 gain, etc) band 1 freq band 1 Q band 1 type band 1 enable and they do that for 4 bands. so i choose band 1 freq and the nodes...

    how to automate filter cutoff

Hello, a semi-newbie question. I use cakewalk sonar 4. I have a rhythm piece repeating throughout a project and to make it sound more interesting I would to apply a low pass or high pass filter where i'm constantly adjusting the cutoff. Like they do a lot in techno music. Does anyone know...

    soft synths "professionals" use

i dont just mean that theirs sounds more polished (which it does) or that it is mixed better (which it is). it just seems like the sound itself, the sample, sounds better. you think thats from adjusting the attacks, reverb, and eq? so whats the point of even having different samples. why not...

    soft synths "professionals" use

anyone know what soft synth/samples "professionals" use. I mean like composers for commercials or the like (I know for many movies they use real orchestras but what about for non-orchestra sounds?) I ask because I always feel my samples/soft synths never sound as good the ones used for...

how would you mix the vocals of these singers?

that's interesting, i didnt think of that. when you use the best gear, it doesnt need mixing.

how would you mix the vocals of these singers?

if the dominant sound in the song is the vocals, wouldn't you mix them first and then adjust the mix of the rest of the instruments so they complement the vocal? chessrock, you're divorced aren't you

how would you mix the vocals of these singers?

lol, im just curious as to how those vocal types would be processed given the sound they were going for (either for specific songs mentioned, or for their band's music in general)
