advice on these two songs

Lol. These are crazy. :D

Forest Hills - The vox are too low and the double tracking is distracting. I can't make out hardly any of the words. Backing music sounds fine. Forest Hills, Queens? My favorite band ever is from there. ;)

Skull Kid - I don't know what to make of this one. The mix is actually pretty good. Better than Forest Hills. Maybe you could drop the vox back a hair on this one. Again the backing music sounds fine. The music just rambling on at the end is pretty unnecessary.

Foresthills:
I will be honest, I didnt really understand what as going on! It was kinda cool though. Really weird and... well... out there. I did enjoy it! Wide stereo seperation which I liked. Not really sure what I say apart from Cool!

Skullkid:
Again, nice and clean and balenced. Flows well. Enjoyable, if a bit out there :)

Heres a question to everyone: does this remind you of a well recorded, well constructed and well written version of the same genre JordanD atempted? :D

Very solid sounding tracks, but repeating what the past guys said. Vox on Forest Hills is way too low. I also think some of the transitions seem off and jolted.

Whacked. I dig them.

Vocals to low, and a bit to whack for me on the first.

The skullkid makes me laugh. Thanks! Decent sound too.

haha, yeah, i guess the skull kid song doesn't make much sense if you don't know the story behind it. the skull kid is about a zelda videogame (majora's mask) where the character skull kid feels alienated and steals a powerful mask which ends up controlling him and the hero link has to save the day. it's not as lame as it sounds in my description, lol.

I lowered the vocals as you guys recommended and I spent all weekend making a video for it so maybe the song will make more sense then (haha, greyharmonix, and you thought i was a geek before!). If you have 3 minutes to waste you can check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_EtDcqFAaM

the forest hills song is about my hometown and i'll fix up the vocals as you guys recommended and try to make a video for that also.

thanks for your comments guys

this works great with the video. On its' own, might be a tough listen for me to listen to it more than once.

VERY creative... out of my league :)

Forest Hills: Vocal too quiet, as has been noted.

LOL. Sounds good. No nits from me.

I'm a Zelda fan, myself. Nice work. This reminds me of Dead Milkmen.

Thanks for posting.

thanks for the comments guys.

supercreep, did you listen to the original version of forest hills? or the increased vocals one? i would like to know if i still should raise the vocals.

this is the original one with low vocals:

after everyone's comments, i raised the volume and did two versions. here is a version where the double tracked vocals are straight down the center:
http://www.lightningmp3.com/live/file.php?id=18322

and here is a version where double tracked vocals are panned hard left and hard right:
http://www.lightningmp3.com/live/file.php?id=18323

did i fix the low vocals problem or should i raise it more? on my speakers, the vocals sound fine, but i dont have very good speakers.
