    Who Destroyed Country?

Country isn't dead. It is a giant freakin behemoth that is stomping on poor defenseless rock, folk, and jazz.

    Guitar Picks

Genuine tortoise is far and away the best material for picks. I used to work (20 years ago)for a guy that smuggled them in from Japan. He got caught and had to pay a big fine. I still have a few. They last forever - you just repolish the point. Very stiff and springy for their thickness. I...

    Uni-Vibe...

I have a Fulltone Deja Vibe - one of the older, large gold ones. It is lovely. I have tried a couple of digital version, and there is no comparison. I'm sure the newer more compact Fulltones are great as well.

When can one call themselves a guitar player?

In a world where Kurt Kobain (even though he was a great songwriter, band leader, and performer) can be included as one of the top guitar players of all time by Rolling Stone, the term has gotten kind of fuzzy. I think if you are a guitar player in a band, or if you have done so in the past...

When can one call themselves a guitar player?

Here is a variation on an old one. These two guitar players get together and one of them has a really cool new guitar. "Where did you get that?", the other asks. "I went to the park today, and there was this really beautiful chick playing guitar. She took off all of her clothes and said I...

    recone?

Does anyone have experience with reconed oxford speakers in Fender amps? Do they sound as good as the originals? I know Oxfords are not well loved.

    At4040 v. 4033?

I don't have a 4033, but my AT4040 works damn well on just about everything. It is my favorite acoustic guitar mic. It isn't my favorite vocal, drum, or cabinet mic, but it works really well in those applications

    Speed limit

I used to have real trouble limiting my speed. I spent a fortune on the crap, particularly the crystaline variety. I am damn lucky to have survived that period in my life.

I don't know... Some guys on Harmony_Central claimed that when you remove the springs, the reverb sounds identical.

    reverb pedal

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I found out that the Danelectro Spring King has springs, but doesn't actually use them for reverb. They just are used to make a boingy sound when you kick the unit. I would like one without springs, please. The vanamps reverbmate sounds cool, and at $250...

    reverb pedal

I've got a few (ok, 4) guitar amps without reverb. Anyone have any luck with reverb pedals? A friend of mine had the EH Holy Grail, but he said it was very noisy. Ideally, I would like a spring reverb emulator that would be cheaper than buying an actual Fender reverb, reissue or original.

Clef Confusion - Can anyone read for guitar and bass?

You get used to it. After all, piano players do it - and they aint to smert. I play guitar and bass (and mandolin of course) do I go back and forth pretty comfortably.

Looking for a footswitch for Johnson J-Station modeler

I'm in the same boat. I bought a programmable digitech midi switch on ebay. It works, but I have been pretty frustrated with programming it. Maybe there is an alternative out there.

    Gibson quality - dead horse

I have been feeling GAS for an ES-175 lately. A local place (House of Guitars) used to be a Gibson dealer before Gibson screwed all of their dealers. They sold off all of their stock, but they have one left - a red ES-175. It sounded really nice, but there were a few pretty serious and...
