Which mic should i choose for this situation....

May I suggest a dynamic mic? Although, given the fact that in your original post, you stated that you were deciding between an AT 3035 and an AT 4040... If those are your only choices, I'd go with the 4040 for a vocal-only situation. But, I'd still suggest a dynamic, if that's an option.....

I still haven't decided which freakin mic

A good all around mic and one that can handle high SPL are not necessarily the same. What are you going to do with the mic that would require the high SPL rating? For that matter, what are you going to be doing with the mic, period? That will make a pretty big difference in what gets recommended....

Acoustic Guitar Recording Stereo ... Oktava mk012's or Marshall MXL 603's?

No flame thrower lit over here...this thread is devoid of anything but good info. If all the threads you and I participated in were like this one, we'd have no issues. Besides, I'm too busy to mess with you this weekend...I've got a CD to finish that we wanted to release in February...we're...

What Chess REALLY meant was...."Welcome to the forum". He just has a hard time expressing himself sometimes. That having been said.... I agree with him. Something doesn't smell right here.....

He's not as one sided as you think

That's only because a couple of assholes decided that they were going to bust the balls of the owner of Studio Projects because they thought he was spamming the board. Then it became an all-out war between the self-appointed Spam Police and their hangers-on (all 3 of them), and the rest of us...

DJL- All verbal sparring aside, I'd be VERY interested to hear what caused you to do such a complete turnaround on PMI/SP products. IIRC, weren't you right in the middle of the B1 "matched pair" discussion? Not flaming, not baiting...just want to know.

If you could curb your enthusiasm for taking potshots at Alan Hyatt and PMI, NO thread would ever go in this direction. Instead, you take your shots at PMI/Studio Projects, people call you on them, and then you attempt to wiggle off the hook by saying "This isn't the way this thread started...if...

Acoustic Guitar Recording Stereo ... Oktava mk012's or Marshall MXL 603's?

Good choice. I own all of those mics but the 58, and you'll have quite a few of your bases covered with that group. You may want to consider adding a more neutral LDC to the mix down the road-something like an Oktava MK319, an MXL V57, or an ADK A-51 might be a good choice for under $100. That...

Acoustic Guitar Recording Stereo ... Oktava mk012's or Marshall MXL 603's?

The Oktava's are great as drum overheads. I use mine as overheads constantly. I don't have a set of 603's, but from what I understand, they tend to be a bit brighter than the 012's. On overheads, that may be a bit more sizzle than you want. Both work well as acoustic guitar sets. I've used my...

So what you're saying is that you're not going to answer the question about what happened to cause you to try to discredit SP at every turn? Unfortunately, every time you pop up and start taking potshots at SP, you are making whatever thread you choose to disrupt a thread about you. Spinning...

Oh, that explains it. I can't wait for your review of the B5 as a cheap talkback mic. When you've used it for enough sessions as a cheap talkback mic in the studio, I look forward to your review, since that's the only thing that's keeping you from reviewing the B5, right? Is there a lot of...

Studio Projects C4- 1st night in use... Grade B+

Han- I saw that thread. Alan made it pretty clear that the B5 looked a lot like the C4, and that he wasn't happy about it. The fact that he called it a clone doesn't necessarily mean that it was an identical copy, just that it looked a lot like the C4. The MXL 2001 looks a lot like the U87...

Studio Projects C4- 1st night in use... Grade B+

No, what I see in the thread that Han referenced was that many people think that the B5 and C4 look similar, and that both are manufactured by 797 Audio. That certainly doesn't define competitive products. I also saw you questioning Harvey's credibilty when he stated that the two mics have...

Studio Projects C4- 1st night in use... Grade B+

How else would you define competing products? What criteria are you using to designate the C4 and the B5 as competing products, other than the fact that they're both made by 797 Audio? If you're not going to use price to define a market segment, then what CAN you use? Are the B5 and your...

What happened that caused your "unsatisfaction" with SP? I think that question has been asked before, and I don't recall that you ever answered it. I'd be very interested to hear what caused your intense dislike for all things PMI....

Closer price points...both street out at about $89/ea, although the B5 does come with the extra capsule. The C4's run about $160/ea-almost twice the price of the B5. That's been my point all along.
