Every so often, I get e-mails from Sam Ash about their specials. Just like I get from all the other guys like Musician's Friend, Guitar Center, & American Musical Supply, etc. I usually don't bite on Sam Ash's offers because I like Musician's Friend and just do most of my online music...
Okay, based on a ton of research on this site, I pulled the trigger and ordered an FMR RNP preamp and the FMR RNC compressor as the first new pieces of equipment for my current home studio project. (Got smoking deals on both, BTW. Only $125 for the RNC and $400 for the RNP, both units brand...
Don't know if this is what you're looking for or not, but it seems to work very well for collaborations, and it's free.

Oops! Just noticed that the key words in your original post were "real time". To the best of my knowledge, Kompoz is NOT "real time". Sorry...
Thanks. Found 3 or 4 distributors in my area, just need to see if they'll sell in quantities less than a case of 12 tubes. It's kinda pricey, but it should help in my application. I was worried about deep bass notes being transmitted through the layers of sheetrock and out through the glass...
Thanks for the heads-up! I already own EZ Drummer, so I can get the "crossgrade" package for only $100 @ Musician's Friend. That's $120 off their usual price! Yippee!
Thanks for info. Spraying the front of the panel will certainly help the fabric stay "stuck", and it makes for easier construction compared to my original plans. As for the JM substitute material, I will definitely check into it.
Muchas gracias, amigo...
Is this Green Glue available to individuals (i.e., not just wholesale)? If so, where could I find some and for how much approximately?
To minimize the amount of sound coming into and going out of the room, I'm blocking up a large window in my proposed studio, using sheets of 5/8" sheetrock cut...
I Think That I'm On The Right Track Now...
Yeah, I scoped those out. Looks like they solve the "make it easy to do" part of my problem, but they are too expensive for what money I have to spend versus how many panels I'll need. Thanks for the suggestion, though, because it made think a...
Hmmm. Not good. I certainly don't want to infest my studio area with a plethora of fiberglass particles floating in the air. That might damage my equipment! :D
Seriously, I guess that I'll have to make the extra effort to use fabric on my panels to prevent the nasties from propagating. I'll...
As part of my continuing education since joining this most excellent forum, I've recently come to the realization that I'm gonna need to install some sound treatment in my 12' x 10' x 8' (ceiling height) little box of a spare bedroom home recording studio. So, I've followed all of the recent...
You've gotten some good advice here. You need to install XP, then Vista, in that order to have the dual-boot config screen work properly. Vista includes an updated boot config program that is programmed to recognize the presence of XP, and to then set things up correctly to allow a dual-boot...
I'm not planning on removing the window treatment unless we move sometime in the future, and that wouldn't be for several years if it happened at all. So, I'm looking at a semi-permanent solution, nothing that I'd be putting up and tearing down every time that I fired up the studio.
I hadn't...
I'm setting up a home studio in a small spare bedroom in my house. The room in question is on the second floor and has one rather large window that faces a neighbor's house. My house is fairly new construction, and appears to be relatively sound-proofed in general. But I'm worried about that...
That's really something to consider. I could "make do" with the little Xenyx mixer, just using it for monitoring and practicing purposes, never sending a signal from it into the audio interface for recording. Then my money could be better spent on a quality preamp for recording, giving me the...
I purchased a Behringer Xenyx 1832FX-PRO mixer a couple of years back, when I first started thinking about setting up my own home recording studio. Illness and an unexpected change in my personal situation caused me to postpone my plans for awhile. Now that I'm finally getting back to the...
