Amplifiers or Software Amp Sims for an Acoustic

Ultrasound www.ultrasoundamps.com They have a huge following with acoustic guitar players. The 30 watt or 50 versions would be great. I think the 30 is $300. SWR Strawberry Blonde. I really like this amp. 80 watts, spring reverb, 10" speaker and piezo tweeter, balanced line...

    Mpx 200

Re: how else can i make the mpx 200 sound good A direct box lowers a high-impedance signal from a bass guitar to a mic-level signal for feeding to a mixing desk. It also changes an unbalanced signal to a balanced signal. There are a lot of preamps that work as a direct box for guitars...

What's your fav over drive stomp box?

I own a Boss BD-2 Blues Driver, SD-1 SuperOverdrive, and a Tech21 Double Drive. The Double Drive is my favorite out of those, but more for distortion or a Marshall stack-type sound. It does a great "clean boost" for my silverface Fender Champ amp. It's a hell of a pedal...very natural...

Reverb pedal/rack with extreme decay times??

I'd go to the Sound on Sound website www.sospubs.co.uk and read the reviews for the Roland SRV-3030 and SRV-330, Yamaha REV500, TC Electronic M-One, Lexicon MPX-500. If the maximum delays times aren't listed then the manufacturers websites might have that info.

    bass throug a guitar pod

John Entwistle of The Who was using a red guitar POD Pro for part of his tri-amped bass set-up on their last tour. An Ashdown PM1000 and a Trace Elliot V-8 tube amp were the rest of the chain. Unfortunately, he died before any of us in America got to hear that sound. :(

    check out this guys set-up

That's true. He is in the process of selling all or almost all of it. I'm not sure why though. If I owned the old classics like Oberheim and Prophet 5, I would hold onto them until they died.

    How to get this sound

The Tech 21 Double Drive is the best one I've found for that kind of sound. Mild to heavy distortion, great sustain, and responds well to picking dynamics. It works better in front of a clean amp sound than it does in front of an already overdriven sound. A great pedal.

Korg mic pres vs separate mic pre amp

A two-channel preamp is just two mono preamps in the same box. Each preamp has it's own separate output. So if you are using both preamps of an RNP at the same time, you would send channel 1 to one of the D12's inputs and send channel 2 to another input on the D12. I hope that makes...

    motif es

Eventually I will buy one. I'm going to wait for it to be released and see if there are any bugs or compelling reason not to buy it right away. I was all set to buy a Motif Rack when I heard about the ES. I might be glad I waited.....I'd really prefer to have a keyboard than a rack.

more than one mic at a time for vocals?

I thought you would keep them as close as possible to avoid phase problems, so the source (voice) hits them both at the same time

    first electric guitar

The difference between the new ones are- the Classic has higher output pickups, a slightly thinner neck. The Standard has lower output pickups that try to get a more "vintage" 50's and 60's Les Paul sound. I think the Classic is a little bit less money. Great guitars, if you bought one of...

    first electric guitar

I recommend a small tube amp. Warm, round clean sounds, natural sounding distortion, spring reverb....I'm getting misty just thinking about them. Modeling and solid-state are the devil....resist the dark side. Peavey Classic 30 Fender Blues Jr. Both of those are about $400.

    I'm a guitar player but

I'm not really sure. I found something online that says the SL-990 transmits on channel one. I don't know how you would access other channels when you are using a module in multi-mode. Maybe someone who owns one can say.

    I'm a guitar player but

A used Roland JD-990 is one of the best used modules in terms of good sound at a cheap price. It has different filters than most of the Roland models, a little warmer. The cost is around $300. Check Ebay to see exactly what they are going for. It holds one Roland expansion board and so...

Korg mic pres vs separate mic pre amp

The D12 does not have phantom power. Bummer. A large diaphram condenser is going to be more sensitive than a dynamic mic, give you a wide frequency response. You might be shocked how good your vocals can sound with a good condenser mic. The C1 and VTB-1 are good choices. Check...
