Recording techniques for hip hop vocals

I would not suggest to double all his vocal unless he's going for that south vibe

How about a sticky with soundcards roundtrip latency?

I'm down for it. I can test the delta1010 I think we should all use the same prog(the one that JFern Provided) for it to be relevant. If that prog is easy I will post result in a day or two.

Finding the Right Drums Template/Style for a Song

I think you're doing it right, I do the same thing, if the sound you have in your head don't match anything that's provided in jamstix2 you can layer a few kick for example and mix them until it sound like what you want **bonus tip** when layering drum hits together, one things that work great...

    Dap king studio - amateur?

hi everyone, I just took a look at the dap king studio and the first thing that striked me was the total absence of acoustic treatment in their control room, yet they manage to make recordings that sound beautyfull. do all that acoustic treatment talk just hype?? Daptone records studio vid

When bouncing a beat from Reason to Logic, should it be Stereo or Mono?

naw it's cool, I'm all about communication:) I guess "instrumental" will be better, anyway... I also feel you about the term Producer, to me: beatmaker= me, and everyone who just make random "instrumental" Producer= people who actually MAKE albums, who has the Vision from intro to outro, who...

When bouncing a beat from Reason to Logic, should it be Stereo or Mono?

glen, you understood me 100% it's more of a bad habit than a refusal to say beat when reffering to all the instrumentation without the vocal. I'm sorry I didn't knew it was getting on yall nerve. if I say "music" in the future is it ok??

When bouncing a beat from Reason to Logic, should it be Stereo or Mono?

I'm pretty sure that he meant to bounce all of his Reason tracks to a single wav file, asking if that wav should be mono or stereo, then rap over it. having an whole beat(drums, bass, whatever instruments, scratch, etc) in mono is bad.

What's the going price in top studios in Atlanta? Any recommendations?

Gladys Knight, Aretha Franklin, Curtis Mayfield, The Temptations, Outkast, Goodie Mob soul and rap wise those are pretty big names, I wonder wich record they did for gladys??

When bouncing a beat from Reason to Logic, should it be Stereo or Mono?

stereo, always. If you lift sample from vinyl you should have already noticed that most music is in stereo(e.g. horns to the left, string to the right, etc..)so if you convert it to mono you will lose that good mix an engineer worked so hard to acomplish some 30-40years ago. if you only use...

    The Clean Way

ok I was wrong to want a clean mic, I realized that I needed a warmer mic/preamp than my current ones I have an M-Audio Luna through a dmp3 since this is my first and only mic I had nothing to compare it too so I red a lot of reviews and found out it was considered somewhat warm, still I have...

Critique this sample mix for our band.

I think the bass is really muddying the mix

    The Clean Way

it makes sense. but I was not going for a " you listen this track on an old vinyl " effect. I just wanted the drums to sound dirty, while having all the other sounds sound the cleaniest possible, considering they all had crackle noise in it. also it was not intended to have vocals over it, just...

    The Clean Way

I actually aimed for a vinyl-crackling-dirty drum sound, in "underground" rap we do like some lo-fi effect. and yes ALL these sound were sampled from vinyl by the guy who provided these sounds.

    The Clean Way

NL5, come on give me your advice. I ain't gonna start a thread for that beat, it was just a contest on some other forums, like who would best flip the samples given( bass, drum, and loops. no other sounds allowed than those provided) yet I'm curious as how you would improve this. Peace.

    The Clean Way

creativly speaking I agree there's not much difference. But technicaly, arranging all sampled cut to make a beat is different because all my sample have already been processed to fit a certain place in a certain track, when you work with musicians I guess you have to do a lot more to make things...
