All you diehard Apple fans rejoice now!

I hope not! If AMD is going over to the dark side, then what is left to hold the bastions? OS/2?

Does anyone really believes this? All they want are cheaper cpu's from ibm.

    Need Networking Help for DAW

Get yourself a KVM-switch. I did this, and I can't believe why it took me so long to do this. Got a DKVM-4K from D-Link. It is a simple box that sits between both pc's, and I can even switch between them without having to touch it. (just using the scroll-lock) It doesn't need power and it just...

    Linux audio restoration?

Just installed DartPro32 under Wine. It installs fine, and it even starts. But it closes itself after about 20sec without any error mesage. If you click or move the mouse it closes faster. No luck I guess.

Too many DAW choises! Linux an option? Or a mac? Or...

There is a large difference between just compiling a new kernel because you need some special functionality 80% of the other users don't need and patching your system weekly to keep it running. Likewise there is a difference between using a known interface layout and way of working while...

    Linux audio restoration?

Just checked the ladpsa plug-ins, but there is nothing to denoise/declick/decrackle. I'll have a look at the others mentioned. CEP1.0 I can get running in Wine, it plays back and works fine with alsa oss-emulation. But the upgrade to CEP1.2a doesn't work due to some graphics problem. Never...

    Linux audio restoration?

Should have been a bit clearer indeed. I need noise reduction, both with and without the possibility to use noise samples, declick (automatic and manual, also for large chunks) and decrackle. These are generic names of the processes, but it is what is needed to get things like 78rpm's and old...

    Linux audio restoration?

Since there seem to be more and more linux users out here, I'll ask this over here. What is there for doing audio restoration under linux? I have tried Audacity and GWC, but neither of them comes close to CEP/AA for flexibility and quality. But I may be missing some well hidden apps.

Too many DAW choises! Linux an option? Or a mac? Or...

Working 90% linux these days. Linux works well, but don't think to get PT or Logic running on it. So if that is one of the reasons for changing, take that into account. To get things working quickly (audio stuff I guess) go to one of the audio centered distros like CCRMA and Agnula. Don't worry...

    Any Linux users?

It works, it needs learning and it takes time. Just like any major change you do to your pc. Sometimes it can take a lot of time, but once it works, it stays that way. That's what I like about it.

Best way to dump Adats into Adobe Audition?

I used a hammerfall with CEP and it works very well, 3 ADAT I/O and sync. You might find one second hand.

    Recording in Adobe Audition

Some time since I used it, but AA also has some buffer setings. You will find it under the recording device settings. Also it will depend on your temp file settings, try moving the temp files to a different hard disc. There is also an option to set asyncronous access, that may help. Sometimes...

Dualboot XP & Linux, newbie help.

The single most important thing you learn instaling Gentoo is RTFM. You only learn linux by using it and finding your way in it. It takes time just like learning anything else. It's forums are very nice, but not very audio minded in the sense audio is used on this forum.

Dualboot XP & Linux, newbie help.

Dual boot is possible, but do search around on the particulars before you start. But first you have to decide on a distro, as the procedure may vary. Linux knows almost all audio file formats used in windows and some more as well. So that won't be the problem. But specific formats like session...

choosing a computer for live audio

Think it will mater more how rugged the box is than what is actually inside. It will have to survive on the road.

    Any Audacity users out there?

Start with a stereo track, the next to the track title click on the arrow and select "split stereo track", select one of the mono track, go to effects and click on "invert", then mix both tracks. It will not work -just like in any other program- if the vocal is not dead center. And it will take...

    Dual core and dual processingmachines

CEP doens't take much advantage of dual cpu's, only some effects do. Sonar and Nuendo take full advantage of dual cpu machines. Don't know about the others. Mac's...aren't that some kind of computers that need dual cpu just to keep up with the rest of the world????
