    gear advice for recording newbie

I own a BR1180 Which,....there are some huge differences, but anyway, the 1600 is a good unit, The Cosm effects are actually pretty good, I use them quite a bit. Not sure how electronically inept you are but the drum machine takes some getting used to. Don't get me wrong, it's simple but a tad...

    Quitting

I'm sure glad that with all my distractions when I record, I don't have any type of deadlines to work under. For the most part when I get frustrated I just put everything away for a few days and think it over. I would never give it all up. Funny thing is....most of the tunes I've either...

    Steve Morse brain fart

Ok, so my buddy calls me about a month ago and says...remember that guy, Steve Morse, the kinda hoosier looking dude, we always saw in the guitar magazines, know the name, never listened to his stuff. (Mainly the reason for that being both he and I have been in a holding pattern over everything...

    Any regrets for getting BR1600??

Hey funk, I had that problem until I bought my daughter an Ipod. funny thing is with that program we've set it up as our default cd player on the computer so any music cd that gets put into the hardrive automatically gets zipped onto Itunes. From there I've just saved a song to my desktop (any...

Who else Loves the Ibanez S series guitars???

    Freakiest Pick Grip?

This ones easy......George Lynch holds the pick real strange......pointy end facing back towards the bridge. I used to hold it like that (at 17 in the 80's....who didn't want to be George Lynch...) but learned later on that holding it the proper way made the stuff I played cleaner sounding.

Who else Loves the Ibanez S series guitars???

S-series No, I believe they're better. come with a ZR trem now and the bodies edge is a tad more "squared" over the Satriani model. Still a very thin guitar though.

Who else Loves the Ibanez S series guitars???

Not sure what kind of response I'll get...nor do I really care...I just love the S series that Ibanez puts out. I've had a few RG's A Fender Strat, but ya know,...a guy just always ends up with what he feels most comfortable playing anyone else? Oh anyone have the new S-520EX??

    Gutar teachers

teaching wow, sounds like I need a few lessons from ya too!!!! I taught for a few years back in highschool but I knew I wasn't a good teacher because I learned by ear and can't really read music. On top of that, my first few teachers usually jammed for 20 min and then taught me something...

Where do your songs first take form?

My best tunes have always hit me at the worst times. At work when things are busy. Then it's a game of running through a melody in that tune over and over and over and over.....just soos I don't forget (which has happened many a time). By the time I'm home, I can have all the basic...

Hey Cinci, I don't know about everyone else here but,.....If you buy a higher quality guitar, that is slightly used (many people take very good care of their instruments) Why would you be worried about a warranty?? Beginner guitar or bass

I would definitely start with guitar. Though it looks more antimidating, it really isn't. Besides....who wants to be the cheeszy dorky bass player!! (Joke). Seriously, you will find the transition from Six string to Bass much easier than Bass to guitar. The main thing is to have fun learing...

    Recording Electric Guitars

Scrubs hit the nail on the head there. It's tough to answer without knowing your gear So I'll give you a totally opposite way of what he says. Plug in direct. Granted, I have a GT-6 which has speaker modeling but really I've recorded a lot of stuff from super clean to death metal raunchy. I...
