first of all....thanks
for checking the stuff out.....
It's amazing how when someone points certain things out, all the sudden you can hear what you hadn't noticed before....then it just bothers the hell out of you!
I'm going to go back and see what I can do about bringing the drums a little...
Please check these tunes out and help with any 'adjustments' I need to make before the final version of the CD is done....these are prelim teasers....
thanks ahead of time!

We started tracking drums for my bands new CD...
My drummer just bought a nice set of Pearl Maple Custom Studio...blah blah blah...types...very pretty!
So anyway, he starts setting everything up, and it just sounds bad!!!!!
I dont' mean like instant mashed potato bad, I mean like BAD...
I have a dedicated computer setup for recording, but don't feel I'm getting the max out of it...
I saw the tweakxp listed below, but was wondering if there were any sites that would include directions on how to optimize the system without installing anything. I also read another post dealing...
thanks for all the ideas and helpful advice, gang! I'm working with a fairly heavy band this weekend, and will be trying out some of the information you've given!
I have the 24/96......was looking at a Hammerfall, but got a good deal at Musicians Friend bang up store (where the box was damaged)..
I think it's a great card! Hope to have another soon......or go digital for the light pipe..so far, everything has been analong on my end!
thanks to both of ya....
do you think the plug in compressors do a good enough job, or should I look into an outboard unit?'
I mean, I know there's always better stuff out there, if you got the money, but I don't!!!!! lol
the Alesis 3630?
lol.....just kidding
I have several various plug in compressors at this time (Ultrafunk and Nuendo are the primary ones I've been using)....
I'm still a newbie (see by my name!), and haven't actually been educated in the outboard rack gear much yet.
I'm up for...
yeah......looking back, that was pretty vague!!!!! lol
Thanks for the info Ethan
I guess just overall, I've tried compressing the final mix on some things and just overall haven't been happy with the results....just wondered if there was a 'rule of thumb' on compressing a mix as far as...
In truth, I have been a person who has generally avoided compression, for the most part....
However, I guess I need to learn more about it, before swearing it off....I guess i just prefer more dynamics, but understand compression can 'blend' a mix...
I know overall, the idea is to 'earball'...
Higginsville...20 miles north of Warrensburg on 13....
That would be very cool to get people together....I'm somewhat of a neophyte, though I'm pretty happy with what I've done so far! Keep me informed!
Where are you at?
I can only give my opinion, but I think it sounds great...certainly not like what I expected for $300. It has alot more clarity, and yet warmth, than the 57-58 (but I've never used a tube MP, either!). I recently did a blues band live, and had the KSM for live vocals that were meant to be...
I haven't tried the Nady myself yet...might sound strange, but they're running so cheap that I'm actually afraid to!!!!!
For a good vocal mic in the price range, I'm really happy with the Shure KSM 27...very nice crisp tone!
