    Recording in Unfinished Basement

My Studio is in the basement too, BUT we've got so much crap down there that we have no need for diffusers and the like:) The only area where excess noise would be a problem is when I mic my amp (sometimes I can here my chair creeking etc.). My music is instrumental so no need to worry about...

Epiphone Casino pickup mod help required..

Well, I know some people switch out the stock pups for either Gibson P90's or PAF's. I have a 2008 Epiphone ES 175 Reissue...the stock pickups are slightly bright, but I just cut back on the tone a bit and I'm fine. BTW...my ES 175 is a beautiful guitar! I am still very surprised at how nice...

    Does anyone play mediums?

I play everything from .09's to .11's... depending on what the manufacturer recommends for a particular guitar... for example, Strats=.09's, Gibson LP=.10's, Gibson ES-135=.11's

    Behringer, a jem or crap?

Wow...this is a long thread! I cannot speak for pedals, amps or guitars, but I own two Behringer mixers; Eurodesk MX 2642A, and Eurodesk MX3282A (rumor'd to be a direct...REALLY good Mackie ripoff). My mixers are absolutely essential to what I do as a single, multi-instrumentalist, and the...

    let me see your studio!

Hey Nico, add me to the list... I just received my 2488MKII last Tuesday (bought it brand new off Backstreet Music/Ebay)...I'm still finishing up tracks on my DP02 so I haven't jumped into it yet, but your enthusiasm encourages me.

    pick ups

EMG's EMG makes a David Gilmore prewired pickguard that is supposed to be very cool. A bit pricey though at about $300.00.

Fender Blues Jr. 15w Tube amp

I've got to chime in as well... I love my Blues Junior! 15 watts, all tube and I love the way my guitars sound when play through it. Can't really add any more than what everyone else has stated.

    Review/Check out My Band: AQUEOUS

Well, keep up the good work! You guys just need to keep developing your sound. Perhaps add some keyboards (if only for your live gigs), like some Hammond B3 type stuff. Really though, I like the way the two guitarists play off each other (like the guys in Umphrey's do). The other thing the...

    Review/Check out My Band: AQUEOUS

Very Cool! I love guitar inter play and you guys are not bad at all. I actually like the use of phase/vibe/wah effects (being kind of an effect junkie myself). I'm listening as I write this...there are some great hooks. Love that vintage overdrive/delay ala David Gilmour in the first number...

    Maybe It's the Strings

Very True, BUT Like I said before...I was amazed at how "close" the two guitars are with regard to set up, and tonal characteristics. I had heard that the early, Japanese Squires were pretty nice guitars, but I just figured that out to be someone's opinion. No worries though...I've got to...

    Maybe It's the Strings

Interesting...I just picked up a Fender American Standard Stratocaster. It IS a very sweet guitar, but, just for kicks, I pulled out my 1987 Fender Squire Stratocaster (made in Japan) to do a side by side comparison. Low and behold, the PUPs in the Squire are hotter than those in the American...

    Question To All Stratocaster Owners---

Yes, I didn't look at the date either, BUT my suggestion is not bad for anyone either unhappy with their guitar or amp. Say what you will about Guitar Center (right now, I'm not all that thrilled with them), but you can play a whole lot of amps and make an informed decision if looking to move up.

    Question To All Stratocaster Owners---

The best thing to do... is to take your guitar over to Guitar Center, and play it through their display amps (and, at least here in Detroit, they have A LOT of display amps...tube, solid state...everything). Play it through a Marshall tube amp, Fender Twin, Super Twin, Blues DeVille, Blues...
