Ok, so yeah, no one has a direct answer regarding when the Firewire card will be available, so I'm going to cancel my order. The 2408 mkIII looks really sweet, but I'm not sure I'll have the money for it. Are there any other options? Looking into the Hammerfall again as well.

Ahh, I see I'm not the only one who thinks so. Usually my mic is no farther away than 6" (with the occasional exception) from the vocalist.

could the low level have anything to do with the fact that your mic is two feet away from the vocalist?

One of the things, and probably the main difference, is that monitors should give as flat a response as possible -- no exaggerated highs or lows.

You know, when I listened at my shop, I thought the exact same thing about the highs. It was pretty top-heavy. I went with Event TR's instead.

I mount my tube mic upside down so that the heat doesn't mess with the capsule... ...and it looks cool :)
