I'd say definately look at the SE2200a and the Rode NT1000. The NT1a is ok but is nowhere near as silky as the NT1000. The NT1000 is often discribed as having a warm valve-type charactor which can really work on beefy vocals. Get down the shops and have a listen... Other peoples opinions are...

I've seen this too. Except it's usually recommended to get a 'decent' pre before upgrading to a nice mic. If the pre's are usable (ie better than behr... mini mixers) they should be able to get a lot out of a nice mic (although you haven't said what your current mic/pre are). Most 10/10 firewire...

nope! I used to use an adapter that went into my game controller port. That worked fine. I now use a USB keyboard and that's good too. :)

I don't know of a program that could do this on your computer. If/when you upgrade (especially the RAM) look at BFD or Groove agent 2... both pretty good programs. You can trigger the sounds via midi or run their grooves and adjust those.

There is a gate on it. Adjuct the knob on the top right corner of the main page. Turn it down to zero and your away!

The signal goes directly into your computer via USB... no need to go into a soundcard. I've not used a unit like this myself so unsure whether you need a soundcard to monitor the mix... anyone else???

Rather sweet actually! I ALWAYS put my DI'd bass through it and it sounds fantastic. Guitar also sounds pretty great. It works best for me to use it and then put that in a small room with waves IR-1. Gives it that realistic edge. ... well it works for me! Definately will be lookign at...

For a simple midi keyboard (semi weighted) these are great! Maudio Keystation 61 ES I have one now and love it. Really simple but does exactly what I need it for. For less keys and more knobs...

What do you need?! Full size key range? Weighted keys? Any synth knobs??

How close would you dare put a guitar amp to your computer case?! I have a stereo chorus Laney 100 with a great sound and 2 big speakers with 2 big magnets!! I don't fancy wiping my hard drive or screwing the PC if I can help it. ;)
