Would? by Alice in chains cover - second take

I made this cover a couple of months ago and posted it in the clinic then. You guys helped me out and basically I just did everything you guys mentioned: - I tried te eq the pitchy spots out of the chorus - added distortion to the guitars in the chorus - rerecorded some vocals with a pop filter...

    Ok here's my second try

The drums are a little dull (drumcomputer). Some more variation would be nice. Too much reverb overall. I like your voice. I think the song could do with some vocal harmonies here and there.

Trying to sound as pro as possible

Not a big fan of the genre either but it as for the mixing you did a really good job! The hard panning in the second song is somewhat distracting at times. That's really the only thing I can come up with, it sounds just the way it should to me..

Recording of My Band, What genre are we?

It loaded really quick for me.. I listened to bitch. Sounds ok, nice song, some mixing issues but you're not looking for that. As for a genre, I agree with Rocket, what do you need a label for? Mmm.. I guess my contribution is pretty usefull here sorry for that.. :p

    Feedback on song please

I suggest practicing with a metronome of some sort to get some better timing. I don't mean to sound harsh eather but I wouldn't call that second song 'beatifull' just yet.. ;) +++

Got ears on?...help me with this

First off, I'd double that lead guitar and pan one hard left, the other hard right to get more space in the mix. As for the drums they sound pretty decent for fruity loops. I use sampled drums myself and I'm always trying to get them to sound 'real' too. I did some covers to get the hang of it...

    Whiter Shade of Acoustic Guitar

I enjoyed that cover. Nice job. The bass that only 'follows' the guitar all the time makes it kinda dull though. I'd try to play with those notes or copy the original bassline..

Would? by Alice in Chains cover

This is by far the hardest cover I've done so far. I did everything by myself. I'd like some comments on the mix and also on the vocals cause I know there are some serious issues there. I know I don't have the best voice and I'm really not that great of a singer but I still thinkl I should be...

3hours work in the studio - what can i improve?

Mmm.. I listened to it twice. The snare sounds really weird, not good. It sounds like the drummer is hitting a carton box instead of a snare. The rimshots at the beginning start of pretty good. The guitar doesn't sound as if she's tuned properly. There are some serious mixing issues too. The...

I need a mic for vocals AND instruments

I know the difference between the Shure Sm58 en Sm57 has come up a lot and I think I read every thread there is about.. I've been recording vocals through a Sennheiser e825s going to my V-amp2 for too long now. I decided to spend some money on better gear. I've already bought a DMP3 but I need a...

    recording drums

Once you’ve recorded the different drumtracks, export the audio as a stereo wav.-file. Import that file again in Cubase. This is your submix. Compress this one track and mix it in with the other separate drumtracks which you do not compress. I’m not saying this is the best way to go, just trying...

A really, really good grand piano simulator

mda piano VSTi !! Ok, I'm not really an expert on piano's but I use 'mda piano'. It's a VSTi, modelled around 31 carefully sampled and mastered Piano samples. It sounds like the real thing to me. You should at least give it a try since it's free! http://www.pluginspot.com/documents/30.html

Mixdown to audio - what am I doing wrong?

Very strange problem you have there. Just a shot in the dark, but if you have make sure you set the left and right locator at the beginning and end of your song.. Make sure it isn’t muted. Can’t think of anything else but the obvious…

    Headphone output in cubase VST1

You'll need a mixer. Basically all it needs is 2 ins, 2 outs and one more out for the cans. Now I know behringer mixers are generally crap, but for the sole purpeous of introducing headphones even the UB502 will do. I use it myself, only as a headphone amplifier and it works fine and is really...

I'll give that a try. Thanks Rich

    Double Tracking Guitar

panning the same track hard left and right will result in a mono track. No stereo effects what so ever. There isn't any point in doing this..

    hiss after panning

I guess I should've been more clear. I did not copy and paste the exact same parts, but I copied the guitar part from the second verse to the first verse and vice versa, from the second chorus to the first etc. and panned one hard left and the other hard right, so it would be a real stereo track...

how to get a full acoustic guitar sound?

I usually record the rhythm guitar 2 times and pan one hard left and the other hard right to widen the mix. However I've noticed in professional recordings that when there are no other instruments except for an acoustic guitar, this technique is not applied. Instead the acoustic plucking or...

    hiss after panning

A friend of mine gave me some tracks he recorded with his band and he wants me to mix them. Since they only recorded the rhythm guitar part once, i decided to double it by copying and pasting the same parts and pan one hard left and the other hard right to get a wider mix. Strangly enough I get...

    Trash my songs please

I'll have another listen again when I'm home (no decent speakers at work obviously). I'll get back to you.
