I remember when I went to music school (a long time ago), one teacher said to us "Learn everything you can about music theory, and then try to forget it all and just go play." I thought it was one of the most insightful things I heard back then.
I did learn a lot about music theory and I have...
Here's a pic of a Road Worn Player Stratocaster I sold a while back. Was a pretty nice little beast! I've actually been pretty impressed with the Road Worn series Player and otherwise. Fender didn't do a half bad job on the relics. I also like that some I've had are really worn, while others...
Hi all,
With my Boss BR-1600 the 9/10-15/16 stereo tracks need a little help. So if I want to record a mono guitar track, can I use one of these? When I do it shows up panned hard left or right. I don't know much about using stereo tracks, except to bounce or mixdown to.
In short, what's the...
Hi,
Looking for a Gibson SG-X in green, blue or pink, and also a Delonge Strat in green. Need both in pretty clean condition. email me at vwcsonic@yahoo.com if you have one. Thanks.
Hi
I'm looking for a green Gibson SG-X. Willing to pay a good price if it's in clean condition. Please email me at vwcsonic@yahoo.com, don't message me here. I never check em. Thanks.
Hi,
I've got some of these and I've noticed the tweeters have hiss coming from them even with no signal coming through and even with nothing plugged into the back. Anyone have some can maybe verify if they do exhibit a little hiss, or should they be silent when no signal present? Thanks.
Hi, if you're going to be using the board to do tracking, not for just like live practices or something, get the one with the best preamps. Right off the bat, I'd lean toward the Soundcraft, but who knows, maybe one of the veterans can tell you if the Tascam board has some good pres too. I...
Hi,
I recently got a pair of these, really to turn around and sell to make a few bucks. Anyone out there who has a pair tell me if you have them turned on with no signal going through, even with nothing plugged in the back, the tweeters on mine have an audible hiss--not really loud, but there's...
Hi,
I've got a JCM800 2205 model from the 80s. Just recently got a second, as I found a great deal. Only difference is my original amp's clean channel wasn't affected by the Master Volume on the amp.
The new amp's Clean channel IS affected by the amp's Master Vol. Seems like clean channel is a...
Hi all,
If anyone has one of these rack mount boxes, I'd love a copy of the manual, or perhaps could you just explain to me how the "InstaPatch" feature works. I think it's supposed to change the order the effects are patched, but just need a nuts-n-bolts description of how to use it.
Thanks,
Wade
hi,
I've got one of these and don't know much about them. Anyone know if the "Preview" button on the front is supposed to act kinda weird? I know it's velocity sensitive, but on mine, it does sort of what it wants. In other words the drum sound I'm previewing will go loud and soft of its own...
Hi,
I'm looking around for a really good used all-in-one DAW. Looking at things like the Yamaha AW16G, Korg D1600, Fostex VF160EX, etc. Any suggestions? In particular, I have some decent outboard gear from my current setup that I'd still like to be able to use via inserts and Aux circuits. Do...
I can't speak to the 3Q, but I like my VC6q. I believe it's got the same compressor. The thing about Meeks is don't expect transparent anything, including compression. The EQs add all kinds of hi's and boomin lows, and the compressor squashes the shit out of things.
So for a transparent vocal...
Hi. I've found someone selling one locally he says is mint. What would you guys pay for one of these used? They go for $2700 new.
He's asking $1750, but I want it for $1350, going by the rule of 1/2 price of new price is in the realm of great used price. Do they generally have good resale? Thanks
Hey Chris, thanks for the info. I remember a great post of yours I ran across where you went into depth on how you go about compressing things. It went into some great detail. I think it was you anyway because I remembered you were from SC. (I grew up there) I meant to go back and try some of...
I have a 32, but haven't had to clean it. Recently got some De-Oxit to clean a Soundcraft board and it's been working great on that. Stuff's not cheap but works. Don't see why it wouldn't work on the Alesis.
Hi,
Question for dbx lovers out there. I currently have one 160xt, two 166, one 166a, and one 266XL. I usually used the 266XL for compressing kick and snare at mixdown. I know most people don't like that unit too much, but the attack and release give me some precise control. I'm just learning...
Hmmm...I usually compress before EQ, and since an enhancer is basically an EQ in disguise, I'd suggest the same. I know sometimes people might do the opposite for effect, but I believe the standard treatment is compress first. Anyone think otherwise? I'd be interested.
If you don't go with the RNC, I'd suggest the dbx 166 (the older one, no A or XL). You could scam two of these used for around $300 probably. I know a guy selling 2 clean ones for $125 each in LA. That would give you four channels of compression, and the 166s are pretty foolproof with the...
