    Backround vocal condenser for cheap

It would seem to me as a previous poster stated, that a 414 should be able to do bight vocals just nicely, and they do have a bass roll off. I some times get too bright of vocals useing the 414, so I don't know... Yeah, not much help, I know. :(

    Any one have a Rhodes?

Alright, here is the link to the mp3. Linky (right click, save-as) Plus I'll open this up to anyone who wants to collaborate. Any instrument you play, whether it be violin, cello, rhodes, organ, or even the cowbell, you can take your shot at adding to the song. Oh yeah, and props to NL5 for...

    Any one have a Rhodes?

Well I don't really have any part in mind (so I don't have it in MIDI), though when I was just tooling around on my el-cheepo casio keyboard, I sort of played a modified bassline only in a higher octave. If no one is interested, no big deal, just thought it would be cool to do a sort of...

    Any one have a Rhodes?

Anyone have a Rhodes and some decent recording chops that would be willing to play and record a part for a song I have would be greatly apreciated. If anyone is interested I can send you a rough mixdown of what I have so far. The genre is rock. (alternative I guess) There is nothing...

    earthworks qtc 40

Well, you wouldn't want to use a QTC 40 for vocals if you are looking something to flatter your voice, because those earthworks are so accurate it is scarry. To sum it up: Earthworks=acurate LDC=sound good

got a little money to burn

Wait around on ebay you can find some nice royer 121's for around $700 Or I'm loving my Hamptone pres right now and they were only a little more than that. But just make the purchase where you think you are lacking. Final option is save

    earthworks qtc 40

I agree with the coments posted so far. While the earthworks may not be the "go to" choice for vocals, they do work from time to time, especially when you want the effect of a very crisp, realistic vocal. For refrence to this statement the Arizona song, Some Kind of Chill is a prime example. For...

    My mic locker...

I've been looking at the Peluso as well, and personally, I'd take that one. The fact that only the exterior of the mic is made in china, reduces cost greatly while still keeping a high quality product. Anything to do with the sound is done here in hte U.S., which to me is very important.

Hamptone JFET too much color for OH?

I got mine assembled, and he got it to me with very quickly because the current batch of assebled pre amps were in the burn-in phase. Turns out I don't have access to my musicians untill saturday and sunday, so I will have to hold out untill then. But what I can say is that it sounds much more...

Hamptone JFET too much color for OH?

Can't comment yet, but I'll write a full review of my impressions of the Hamptone HJFP2 when I get some cables on thursday. Though I won't be using it on OH yet. I can say that Scott is a great guy and is very enthusiastic about his product and will do whatever he can to make you happy.

    mxl v69

Upgrade...Maybe, maybe not. Different....Yes. The V69 is generally considered a darker, much more colored type of mic. So, if that is what you are looking for it could be the one for you.

    Earthworks Drum Kit or individuals?

Personally I don't like 81's duno too "bright" maybe. Sounds funny but I like my $50 oktavas better. Ok there not matched and arn't the perfect cymbal sound, but I like them. Other thinks I have liked are U87s and 414 B ULSs but those are a little out of your budget. My set up is usually...

    m-box 2

The mboxes are fine if you like the Pro-tools interface and don't need too much input. I track on a larger system, then use the m-box alot for editing, and then bring the session back over to the larger system for mixdown with outboard.

    e609, e906, m201? Snare, Guitar?

Ok update: I bought the MD421, because I found a good deal on them. Soon though I plan on getting a M201 from full compass for about $175. The MD412 has been awesome on tom, guitar, sometimes kick and vox. Thanks for all your input!! About the D112 I actually have used a trick like that...

    Compliment for Baby Bottle?

I realize that the others are outside of my "budget", but usually by the time I have done deliberated, I have saved up the extra "bit" (or alot) to go the extra mile. :D

    Compliment for Baby Bottle?

Well I just upgraded my preamps and I figured I might as well start thinking about new mics cause I'm fairly limited right now. My one vocal condensor is the Baby Bottle and have found that it just doesn't cut it on many souces. Other mics I have are D112, MC-012s, and an MD421. So far I have...

    I really need more opinions

Best+mic pre, mic, converter, sound card, or monitors does not exisist. It is all in the eye (or ear rather) of the beholder. With that you have about 12 channels to expand to that are not really being used. That is an inefficiant use of money. I can understand the DIGI002 from an expanision...

    I really need more opinions

If all you need is one mic, why the Digi002 and especially why the Rosetta 800. It seems to me that that is way over kill and could be spent better elsewhere like in a top dollar mic pre.

    Ideal Studio Location

Eh... 50 ft. Thats nothing! I don't know sonically, but damn am I never buying a mic cable over 25 feet. I did a live gig last week end and used the venue's gear. Big mistake. They had these 200 ft cables for a stage that was tiny and the cables were only going back stage. Thats not the end...
