I have accumulated a large number of ADAT tapes now. What is the prefered method of storage. On end? on the side? Is it ok to use those Video tape Drawer units?
I know enough to keep them from heat and moisture....and strong magnetic fields?
Thanks;
Dom Franco
There must be some way of choosing "RECORD" on track 4 while playing back 1, 2, and 3.
Perhaps a switch on the input channel? scource internal? ext? Line or mic inputs?
Other than internal transfer of tracks, you could take a cable out of tracks 1, 2, and 3 into an external mixer and back into...
I just purchased my second AT3525 Condensor mic. Last night I used the stereo pair for some Vocals and accoustic guitar.... WOW.
Stereo condensors sound awesome! I think I will always do guitar tracks live in stereo now, without doubling the parts!
The low end roll off switch is nice, and the...
I have an ADAT LX20, and I am wondering if can just buy another ADAT, and hook them together with a cable, so that they will sync together for 16 tracks. Can I?
I know that they will sync if I use a BRC for about($1000) bucks!!
I am a cheapskate, and I just want more tracks....

I'd suggest spraying the floor boards and ceiling perimeter of the room. Cover all of your equipment with dropcloths and move it into the center of the room. Repeat this process again two weeks later. (When the eggs hatch) then spray every few months or so.
I would not suggest spraying any...
It could get pretty expensive....The cost of building materials has been going up and up!
First of all you'll need a slab and cement footings, and I would not scrimp here. Make it at least 16ft X 20 Ft.
Next: I'd suggest cinder block walls filled with sand or concrete, then fir out the inside...
For 300 bucks... is it a good thing.
I would have to upgrade my computer and sound card, but I would get 8 more tracks!
Any one have an ADAT Edit? Tell me about it..
Thanks;
Dom Franco
Okay;
It sounds like the pc board connections to the DC in jack have been flexed and broken.
This was the case on my small fostex.
Simple Fix:
1. Carefully remove the small phillips screws that hold the case together.
2. Examine the solder connections on the printed circuit board where the...
I have recently been doing some remote location recording. I don't want to lug around my 24 track board. (Unplugging all the sends/receives and cables etc.)
Doe's anyone out there in ADAT land know of a small 8in/8out mixer (With XLR or 1/4)that I could use to input to the ADAT? Then later I...
I think I'm having way too much fun....but I just sort of re-discovered the effects of layering guitar parts.
I had a nice "stereo" doubled accoustic guitar part on two tracks for a song I was working on. But I was looking for a different texture. So I replaced one of the Accoustic tracks...
I hate computers.....but what is the MP3 stuff?
Can I put my CD demos on the web?
What software do I need?
Do I need a good soundcard?
It's take all of my technical abillity just to
visit this cool BBS!
Sincerely;
Dom Franco
Thanks to Dragon!
We have a category for the "Computer Challenged". I just can't seem to trust my hard work, sweat and tears to a fickle thing
like a computer! I know it's the way of the future, but I feel so much better when I get my songs on to an ADAT tape! It's tangible, I can put it...
Just purchased a CD recorder, and it works great. I'm already making CD's and giving them to my recording buddies.
I want to be able to make "Professional" looking labels, mabye with my studio logo and titles etc. Also Jewel box inserts?
What type of software do any of you guys use....and...
Lately I have been adding a simple Tamborine part to most of my drum tracks. Just a hit on beats 2 and 4 (With the snare). I add a good amount of reverb, even when the drum track is dry. I keep the level of the Tamborine way down...it cuts through the High Freq. real well. This works for live...
I have found some cool plastic covered hooks in the hardware section of some local department stores. I use them to hang Headphones and Microphones etc. when not in use. However I still find when recording (in the heat af the battle) I end up with wires and cables strung all over the place...
Do any of you own one of these "Phillips" Stand alone CD audio recorders?
I have seen the prices coming down!
$399.00 at Circuit City. Are they good enough to do my mixdowns? CDR or CDRW? I know there is a lot of knowledge out there on this forum! Thanks
Dom Franco
I have seen and used "Baffles" in the studio and on stage. I would like to make some in different sizes to achieve separation during recording of multiple instruments. Dragon, do you or any of the others on this forum have plans or ideas for a "DIY". Should I use Fiberglass or foam insulation...
