Intonation on a floyd is a whore

I mean, exactly what the fuck were they thinking? Talk about a bad design. Undoubtedly an engineers' decision. Any tips for adjusting the intonation? Relieving all feckin' tension is quite a pain in the roostersack. Even then, the feckin' saddle tends to slip...

    Neck relief?

I've found some conflicting opinions on what correct neck relief should be. I (still) have some fret buzz in a couple of places between 12th and 24th frets, so I was considering turning the truss rod 1/32 to see if there is any improvement....

    Contact cleaner/tube replacement

I've read many places that when you change tubes, you should hit 'em with a bit of contact cleaner and maybe plug them in once or twice to remove oxidation/etc. So I go to radio shack, lo and behold there is one can of contact cleaner left. Halu-fucking-leuia. So I'm on the last tube, when I...

    Old peavey cab 8/16 ohm

I have an old peavey cab with a switch to change between 8ohm-"stereo" or 16 ohms-"mono". Can I assume that if the switch is in the 8 ohm position, I will be running two 16 ohm speakers wired in parallel=8ohms? Stupid question time~ would it be easily tested with a multimeter?

Mesa owners... Still maintain "fixed" bias?

Mesa owners ~ How many of you have had a bias potentiometer installed on your Mesa? If you have not had a bias pot installed, do you use the tubes supplied/tested by Mesa? Where else might you have you bought tubes from?

    Mesa Tubes

They recommend you buy through their website, but they don't seem to have much of a selection. Quite a few articles they have listing reason after reason why you should buy ONLY their tubes because your salvation depends on it, and yet they only have 1 type of 6L6! Also~I swear I read...

    Stupid V30 question

Stupid V30 question; I am now the proud owner of a mesa single rectumfrier, and an avatar G212h special. This seems to imply that the cab is rated @ 60 watts. If the V30 handles 60 alone, is it not cumulative? Should it handle 90 watts, or close to it?

    Floaming solid state amp

I have a crate, and I really love its' sound, but I'd like to warm it up a bit. I was told, that using Floam and the mysterious acoustic properties contained within it would do just this. I'd really like to save some money, so can someone advise? I don't want to be out the money for the Floam....

    Instrument Exchange on ebay?

Has anyone ever dealt with Instrument Exchange on ebay? It seems their auctions are avoided. With good reason, or is it because they are affiliated with Guitar Center?

    MP3 encoder~anyone still use blade?

I recently upgraded Ntrack, and forgot to move Blade into the Ntrack folder, which would be the source of the problem I experienced last night. But in searching for info on Blade, I noticed that back in '04, Gidge had said that it wasn't his first choice, and that there were several better...

    "Metal" tube amps~Bias pots?

I've been digging around trying to detemine which amps HAVE bias pots already installed and semi-accessable. I can't find anything about the B52 amps, not even a schematic (assuming I could interpret the schematic.) So what amps have people here owned that come from the factory with a bias pot...

Once again~a question about tube biasing

So here I am in the armpit of hell where there is no one who does good work on amps. I've had two tube amps (Carvin and Ampeg) which were both never the same once I'd sent them to be tubed and biased. So what's it take for a guy to bias his amp? I may seem developmentally challenged by my...

    For the love of God....

Why can't I pan my tracks? No matter where I put sliders, they are located in the center of the stereo field. It does reduce the volume when I pan them either direction, but does not affect/change the location in the stereo field. I'm using a Delta 1010lt and Ntrack. I've recorded several...

    1010lt monitoring multiple inputs

Thank you eraos for verifying my complete lack of a grasp on this :D Yes, I am slow. For the feckin' life of me, I cannot figure this out in the monitor mixer. I've only done up to three tracks simultaneously, but I can only monitor either 3/4 or 5/6. Humble setup as follows... N-track DMP3...

    Upgrading from Ver.3.3/16-bit to Ver.3.3/24-bit

Good ol' Flavio sent me a link where I can buy d/l the trial version of Version 3.3/24-bit, and pay for it. In the meantime I've d/l'ed the trial version, though this computer I am on is not the destination, so I will not install it here (wife computer, what she doesn't know  ). Not...
