Stuck In The Middle With You - cover

oh yea i def didn't memorize the melody... he's almost talking in the verses and I changed it a bit for what seemed natural to me. Didn't want to do a note for note thing, ya know. I don't think anything is off-pitch yea? You mean just moving melody parts around a little?

Stuck In The Middle With You - cover

Only got the 1 pickup on the Jazz bass. I turned the higher tone knob way down and the other 2 low/mid around 75%. With the higher tone pickup engaged, it got too bright for the song, I thought. For some reason or another, I thought the growly range helped the tune. Probably overdid it though

Stuck In The Middle With You - cover

It's super bassy, yeah. I don't know - the bass is such a major part of the song and I got used to it turned up a bit. It's HP at 40hz with 5db cuts around 100 and 250. I added a little (2db?) of 350hz for that growly tone. I do understand how it could be a bit much though, honestly. Rest sound ok?

    Feedback for pop/r&b type song

Yeah master bus high end lifts can be tough. Personally I like to add it in the individual channel to where I like it and then keep the master bus high end boost to around 12khz and only a touch, that way it's adding just the airy sense rather than important or resonant freq on the instruments...

All I Really Want To Do

There's some thuds coming through in the beginning, it sounds like the microphone is being bumped or something.. actually now i'm hearing it on B's so I'm thinking you need to use a windscreen and step a few in. away from the mic. Nice song!

    Living My Life Online...2020 thoughts!

Pretty cool, maybe turn the drums up a little, around 2:30 and onward I'm wanting them to be more balanced with the rest of the instruments. Personally, I would shape the bass tone with EQ a bit more and get less flabby sound and more low/high tones out of it, but that might be your preference...

    Feedback for pop/r&b type song

pretty cool. I'm hearing some harsh sibilance on the vocal. The lowest freq parts could use some cleaning up - I think it's maybe that kick drum that has a resonant feature around 200-350hz somewhere, it's cluttering up the low-mids end a little. Listening on Sen HD280. You want to try moving...

Hanging By A Moment - unplugged acoustic cover

Thanks man. Zero practice recording or mixing a djembe and I totally agree with you. I think I pulled a little out of 100hz to make room for the bass guitar and then gave it a bump around 1k. I thought about giving it a 60hz boost for more thud but I have a hard time hearing the low-low end...

Hanging By A Moment - unplugged acoustic cover

Ah yea, the limitations of doing all the tracks yourself! Really stinks there's no variance in the vocal sound, being one voice. It would help a lot to have someone else singing there. As far as panning, the background vocals and harmonies are spread out, perhaps they could be moved a little...

Hanging By A Moment - unplugged acoustic cover

Hey everyone, please take a moment to let me know your thoughts on this latest mix. Recent feedback has helped me settle the reverb into a better place as well as separate the guitars and vocals with volume and EQ modifications... so any thoughts and opinions on the recording, production, and...

    4K monitor and DAW issues

It meets the minimum requirements, so that's good at least. I just changed the Windows resolution back down to 1920x1080 ... things seem a little blurry but this is usable. The plugins now appear normally and can be used properly. So, no 4k. Any issues in just using this workaround? I will still...

    4K monitor and DAW issues

Just got a new LG 27" 4k monitor for my laptop. I am using Studio One 4 Pro. Even with "enable DPI" scaling" checked, and with 3rd party plugins activating scaling, I am having major issues. It's almost unusable. Stock plugins display properly without any additional modifications, but there...

Right Here Waiting For You (acoustic cover)

Yes, you're right... I put guitar, bass, vocals right down the middle. That's probably where the first comment also got the "stepping" impression from, regarding the guitar and vocal. Funny enough, I had 3 guitar tracks recorded and debated how to position them all, but ended up only using the...

Right Here Waiting For You (acoustic cover)

Great review, thanks! The guitar competing w the vocals - is this an overall volume issue? I thought in most places it sat well in comparison to the vocal, were you saying the peaks of the guitar were interfering w the vocal? I can certainly see that, as I had trouble finding the right attack...

Right Here Waiting For You (acoustic cover)

This was my second time using the new Laravee acoustic and also the second time with flatwounds on the jazz bass. Only other instruments are strings via Studio One's stock application Presence. I used a host of new plugins on this song, including Old Skool Verb as a send, Nova compressor on...
