This was my second time using the new Laravee acoustic and also the second time with flatwounds on the jazz bass. Only other instruments are strings via Studio One's stock application Presence. I used a host of new plugins on this song, including Old Skool Verb as a send, Nova compressor on master bus, and BlueCat Chorus (very subtly) on the strings. Guitar and vocals both recorded with sm7b, guitar about 1 ft away at 12th fret and vocals between 6 in to 1 ft away depending on the vocal section. Vocals are doubled throughout and a third vocal track comes in on the second chorus, but about -20db from main track. I'm loving the flatwounds on these songs as they seem to give it that full thickness and it's sustained pretty well with the CLA76, I think. For this song, if the CLA76 didn't help hold the low end, I would've went with a synth/electronic bass, but I thought it did the trick just fine. Please let me know your thoughts on the mix, as I am always looking to improve aspects of the engineering.
note - the last track I posted had several remarks on maybe too much verb and/or high end in the verb. I adjusted it this time around and turned the reverb down altogether (new plugin too). Thank you for the advice!
