Is setting up 2 different condenser mics to record 1 vocal a good move? If so, can anybody offer ideas about mic placement, do's, don'ts, or any tips and techniques in general? Thanks to all who answer.

I've noticed that some of the the tracks I've recorded are peaking on the meters but sound just fine. Will not recording these over bite me in the ass later?? This is on a Yamaha 2816, btw.

Just stumbled over the Boss 550MkII in my house. It was my girlfriend's ex's. I don't have much drum machine experience at all. So what's the feelings on this little unit. Should I make use of it or spring for something newer and updated?

I have the Avalon 2022 and I just ordered the RNC. After ordering the RNC I read someone's statement on this site that the 2 units were a pain to hook up together. Then I read that the RNC is unbalanced. Hmmm. I'll assume that's where the problem lies. The 2022 is the only preamp I own...

What's the skinny on amp limiters? Are they like compressors? How do they differ? Are they good to have?

After recording vocals with some compression I notced that they weren't quite as clear as when they were recorded without compression. I was trying to keep them from clipping during the louder parts. Is this common? Suggestions for compression settings? Record at lower volumes and screw...
