clipping on meter

I've noticed that some of the the tracks I've recorded are peaking on the meters but sound just fine.

Will not recording these over bite me in the ass later??

This is on a Yamaha 2816, btw.

I think the yamaha is like my roland, you can set the point at which the meter clips. The roland has a setting of either clip, 3db before clip, or 6db before clip. You may be metering a signal that actually isnt clipping.

If it sounds good it is good. But I would not get into the habit if I were you.

Like Jblount said though, check your clipping point in your software.

Thanks for replying. If the 2816 has that feature, I don't think I have it set that way.
I believe the levels have jumped over zero.
You play a part just the way you want and it really sucks to have to record it over.

That's showbiz.
