Thx Heat
I think it has been a really interesting experiment. I think maybe the chords(C - Am - Dm - G) and rate of change are just too old hack for the genre. But making it I learnt how to side chain into the vocoder in Logic, how to export vocals into midi from Melodyne and built my own loop...
Folks I don't know where this one came from or what it is - Indie Pop?
Its Jimmy Somerville meets John Barry strings section with Daft Punk singing backup
Really interested in those of you that produce dance music to chip in on production as it is an area I really want to develop. But feedback...
Thanks for for feedback
Not sure what happen with bass; I actually brought it up a bit? - I have got to get some better monitors and treatment for the room I think I'm missing a lot of lows.
Thanks Aaron - that's exactly what I did this time round - I had tried that in the past and it did not...
This is the latest version with slightly different lyrics
I pulled vox back a bit, added harp, slide & high piano part
Feedback on song or production appreciated

Thanks Ray
I actually was unhappy with the melodion and have changed it for a harmonica and a bit of slide on the bridge - but still pretty minimal
New lyrics tomorrow - I'll post new mix when done
Thanks for your support
Burt
Sorry to go against the grain here - but I still think you can do a lot with lyrics, before or without music. A solid lyric bed/cloud will serve the right piece of music as much as the music serves solid lyrics
The trick is that if you write the words then you need to be a skilled musician to...
I just finished this one today
A lot of Waves on the Shore
It is pretty minimal, but I would like suggestions on how to get a more even finish with the dynamic range of the last few Ch.
I used my best mic technique but nearly needed to be in the next suburb on the final Ch not to distort. I...
There is some potential ideas going on here but it is essentially a serious of orchestrated (all be it with good samples) crescendoing chords? I'm not hearing motif or melody in any off it.
There is a lot going on as well, I would take one section and develop from that. The first string...
Hey Jason
I listen to a lot of alt-country/bluegrass stuff and this is really on the money - Its got a bit of Avett Brothers vocals to it, but lyrically sounds like something Nick Cave would have written - great
As I am listening I really want the lead work to stay still. I'd keep the banjo...
Thanks James
Yes definitely look at bass - clarity comes from position/trying to not to have too many thing on same side in same octave at same time and accepting that you can EQ a sound that can sound really bad when soloed, but great in the mix. I really chiselled out the snare/kick/bass with...
Thanks Ray
Yes comfortable but still miss Coopers & New on tap and good 'surf and turf' that you don't need to get a mortgage to pay for. Fireworks good in HK but still not a shade on Sydney - our big ones are in 3 weeks for Chinese New Year - the year of The Dragon, named after my wife...
A couple of things the author does point out that might get you started with or without music.
The title – does the song answer the questions that the title asks? The who what, where when? You only use the word twice in the whole song? Could it be “The hole burnt in my heart” or “The hole you...
