Frequency Splitter, is it showing what I think?

.....and what I think it's showing me is....... for example, I was looking at my vocal track, and all the guts of it was between 100Hz and 3000Hz. Out side of this, was just some pussy little faint hardly audible rubbish. So does this mean I can do some FFT notch filtering on other tracks in...

    Manual spike knock down

Is runing along and knocking down a half dozen or so big spikes by hand normal procedure, whether done before compression, after compression(missed spikes), or if not using compression at all.

    Sweeping out the EQ Freak!

Here is a link to great article, on reducing a Frequency volume, of say a Guitar, at the same spot where, say the singing mainly sits, so they don't mask each other out. http://www.homerecordingconnection.com/news.php?action=view_story&id=154 Here is the statement from that article I don't...

    CEP Vs Sonar 4 ?

Just made my first song with CEP 2.1, after using Cubasis with came with my Tascam 122. I think CEP is absoulutely wonderful. I realise Cubasis is pretty lame compared to it's bigger cousins. I found transparency between recording and editing just fantastic with CEP. Anyhow Sonar 4 is...

It says resolution 16 bit in the Tascam control panel. How can I make it go to 24 bit? Also CEP has no...

Why do I need to be so close to 0db?

I am using Cubasis which came bundled with a Tascam US-122. It says that when recording you should get as close to 0db as you can without going into the red. I mean.... Come on!, what's a measly 1 or 2 db's below zero matter between friends.

    Will I lose my decibels?

Hello all  I'm trying to understand Compression. After reading the following,..... ***************************************** "We often just want the loudest notes tamed, not broken. This is where compressors come in and with them a RATIO control. All the RATIO control does is set how...
