This unit has been in my home office/studio since purchase, in a smoke free environment. I'm no longer recording like I used to, so it is being sold off (yeah, more items to come).
This EQ rocks, and if you google it you'll find it's much loved and highly regarded.
It's on eBay at...
I've been looking into USB and Firewire interfaces a lot lately.
Offhand, the E-mu 0404 was one of my top USB 2 choices. Since you own one now and you're asking about others... my "other" USB 2 choice was the Native Instruments Audio Kontrol 1.
It seems most of the cutting edge, new...
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who added to this thread, particularly chessparov for his hands-on knowledge, and that I've ordered the VTB-1.
Will be back with my thoughts when it's arrived!

Not sure you can successfully chain that many devices with a compressor at the end - I've tended to notice the compressor ends up bringing anything unwanted right up there.
You did the right thing by checking them one at a time. I'd suggest removing one device at a time, and seeing if the hum...
Massive, if you mean the low cut switch on the mic (as well as the one on the Mackie), I tried both rolled off and flat positions on each as I worked on it. The difference, though notable, was not the culprit.
chessparov, thanks for the lead. I will watch the site daily. Also, thank you for...
Hi John,
Thanks for your reply.
I thought the same, that something *had* to be wrong here. I had both companies check out their part of the equation, and they each sent the units back after a week or so, claiming that nothing was wrong and they were fine.
I tried the other Mackie inputs. I...
Can anyone who has experience with these two preamps give me an idea which might amplify an EV RE20 more effectively? This is for voice work only.
I used to have a Mackie 1202VLZ but needed to crank the trim to near-max to get sufficient signal. Even then I had to use the output gain on other...
Hey TexRoadkill, deadeye and Regebro, thanks for all your input.
I've killed all power in the house save for the one outlet, and the hum remains.
I have tried lifting the ground with a 3/2 adapter, and the hum remains.
In fact, I am using a hefty UPS from APC (Back UPS Pro 1000). I tried...
I ask the question because it seems that my 1202 VLZ Pro is the cause of a hum problem. Or the main contributor. I'm stumped as to how to fix this one.
Here's the skinny:
I hook up an EV RE20 mic via balanced XLR to the 1202. When I monitor the audio with AKG K240 headphones, I hear a low...
Your only concern is the possibility of installing the wrong BIOS file for your mobo. If you've got that right, you're fine. If not, then it *may* or *may not* be something you can recover from. (Tip: if unsure, and if you have access to only one computer, then download the 2 or 3 BIOSes that...
Thanks Cuzin B, you covered me excellently! I feel quite confident in going this route now.
You asked... "Not sure what you mean by "as well as pump the output of another computer system (my kids' game machine)" Does this happen while you are editing?"
No. Sometimes the kids come down and...
gordone - You're right. I had misread this line on the Delta 44 page: "With the Omni I/O as its front end, the Delta 44 gains 2 pristine mic preamps" and somehow missed the reference to the Omni I/O part. Doh! Thanks for the heads-up.
Cuzin B - You sold your mixer, no kidding? I had in fact...
I'm looking into one of these two cards for a series of project studio recordings that friend is writing. He put some "demos" together and has asked me to pick up the project.
He was working with a Mackie VLZ1202 Pro and the older Gina 20, but driver support for Win2K and later Win XP is beta...
Didn't want to crosspost my question and start mutliple threads, so if you know MIDI or this keyboard well, please look at my situation in MIDI Mania forum.
thank you,

Hi.
I'd appreciate input from anyone who may have some ideas for me here.
I have a P3-500 Win2K system with an SBLive Value card, the SB MIDI cable, and a Korg X5D synth. The drivers for the Synth, and any software I know of that talks to it, are all pretty old (1995-1997 vintage), although...
