Rock Opera version of Tom Waits

In that case maybe the character is meant to be dying. ;-) I do use de-essers. I however do brighten up the vocals. I like to bring the consonants forward a bit. I did not realize it was disturbing. I will take a look at ut. How bad are the samples really? I was aiming for a synthy 80's...

    Critique my mixing, please ?

It overall sounds very good. I think you should maybe put on more compression and brighten the vocals a little. They sound very soft compared to the aggressive, over-compressed backtrack. That is pretty much all that I can suggest.

Rock Opera version of Tom Waits

I am glad you like the concept. I might have overdone the vocal cracking a bit. I was aiming for something very intense. I suppose I could have done a few more cleaner notes. As I mentioned, the choirs are EWSC (of course). They are really difficult to handle in speedier songs. I am not sure I...

i made this when i was drunk

You are a genious! I like this a lot. Amusing - indeed! It is funny in a way that it appreciated by my intellect. The song is sometimes playful, sometimes very dramatic and sometimes sad. Even though the lyrics and overall idea seem to be gibberish, this looks to me like serious work. Listening...

Rock Opera version of Tom Waits

I am glad you liked it! Thank a lot for commenting. I am a fan of Meat Loaf, or to be more precise, I am a fan of Jim Steinman (Meat Loaf's song writer, who has also worked with Bonnie Tyler, Sisters of Mercy, Pandoras Box, done musicals etc). The 69 Eyes I had never heard of before, until I...

We Don't Need Anyone. What do you think?

Far too compressed and limited for my taste (but I guess that is modern). Every instrument start at 100% volume and stay there for the entire song. I would probably have put the drums a little louder in order for there to be a more explicit beat. I do like the sound of the drums a lot. The...

    mixing help please, instrumental song

Someone has put a lot of thought into the production of this song! It was really interesting to listen to. The way the delays and such kind of become a part of the lead tune melody does remind me of the X Files theme really (but this is less spooky, of course). All I can say is that it would...

Rock Opera version of Tom Waits

Please comment my production of a rock opera version of a Tom Waits song. I wanted to do something dramatic with hugh choirs and lots a reverbs. The choirs are of course EWSC. Maybe there are a little too much mid-frequences. I am thinking about adding more top and buttom. I am also thinking...

    Swedish folk rock

New mix again; http://www.box.net/shared/rtexnyrilm I put the very lowest bass frequences up slightly more. I figured the bass is actually quite a bit more quiet in the end (with the 16th), so I put put that one up some more in the ending. I thought that there was too little back beat with so...

Thanks a lot! I am actually a fan of snares of the 80's. In my world, there is no such thing as a too long reverb tail wth a snare drum. :D

There is a delay in there. I think that it is mostly swallowed by the much stronger reverb, but I can see what I can do.

    Swedish folk rock

Thank you.. The heavy ending (including the fade out) actually takes up like a full quatre or something of the song. I initially thought of having a 10 minute heavy guitar solo in the ending, but I reckoned it would loose some of its connection with the main themes of the song. I think I...

    Swedish folk rock

http://www.box.net/shared/cgxbv2yzxj I have increased the power of the drums and also of the general bass frequences. The drums, especially the kick, should be a lot stronger now. I hope that it will sound better. And thanks a lot for commenting.

'll see what I can do. I have been thinking strongly about increacing the bass frquences of the mix (which will most likely give the kick as well as the bass guitar som extra muscle). I could also increase the level of the snare a little and reduce the master limiting slightly. I am up for some...

You think the vocals are too dynamic? I must admit that I am surprised to hear that. There are some pretty serious compression going on at that track. I'm not even sure that I can compress it much more without the compression being too obvious. Is there a particular place where you find...
