A song about Ice Cold Beer (*UPDATED*) (upbeat acoustic groove)

Super fun. It actually reminds me of something Sublime would write + the groove. When I saw the title I figured it would cringe but you managed to make this super cool.

It sounds nice. Fun song. I like the guitar parts.

For me it's one or two BPM too fast. I'd like to understand the lyrics, and they just go by a bit too fast.

OK the bass might be just a bit boomy in spots.

The title caught my attention, somehow.
This is the kind of pop song that would make it onto the UK TV show 'Top Of The Pops'.
All the 'Effin' would have to go though.
The instruments were all a bit close, and claustraphobic. I listened on headphones.
It has a lot of mileage though.

It has been FOREVER since I’ve posted here, but thought it'd be fun to pop up a new one i’ve been working on.

Any feedback on anything would be appreciated.

Cold Cold Beer (V1)
The title caught my attention also. Probably because I have written a couple of songs about beer myself.
It's a cool song. It may be a little fast, but that lends to the groove. I would like to be able to catch all the lyrics though, and slowing it down a little would probably help.

Thanks Nola! I love Sublime. Glad you didn’t hate it. :-) Thanks for the listen!

Thanks TripleM! I actually recorded a previous version with all Ukes and it felt too slow, so I bumped it up a bit. I always struggle with the low end. I even use the iZotope Tonal Balance Control and it can STILL be a beast. I’ll A/B it with other tracks and it can appear to have the same basic low end, so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Thanks for check it out!

Thanks Slouching Raymond! I hear you on the claustrophobic vibes. I took that info and tried to pan a bit harder and adjust some volume to hopefully not all be quite as “in your face” (I haven’t updated the song in the main thread, but I guess I can put that here…). Thanks for checking it out :-)

I do love a good beer, and song about beer! As mentioned earlier, I recorded a version with Ukes and it was about 6BPM slower and for some reason I felt like it dragged, so I sped it up a bit, and…yeah. this is kind of what I ended up with. Thanks for listening!

Good Song - don’t like all the cussing - no point - buckle down and write some real words.
Hey Papanate! I hear yeah. I, on the other hand, love a song with some good ol’ cussing. Thanks for listening to my “dark side”. :P

Yep catchy tune for sure. Sounded pretty well behaved on earbuds.
You should flick it through to the Budweiser marketing dept. Although they would probably ask what is this 'beer' you sing about :D?

Musically the tempo felt good to me too.

It's just that, at that speed, the lyrics were a little rushed and difficult to make out.

It's a paradox. :)

Cool song , I loved the vibe especially in the chorus. The vox was smooth and captured Nicely.
I think you can get the mix sounding better though.
my 2 cents .. I Think the instruments are panned too wide. Left one needs some bass rolled off. Right one needs raised a db or so. Could use a touch of reverb on the full mix.
Still .. Loved it ! mark

Fun song :) Writing-wise, I generally avoid cuss words but it actually fits in well in the scene you painted with the song, so not a biggie if you ask me!

Miller Light actually fit better, but I did it enough times to make “Ultra Light” work :).
Thanks for listening!

I like the second version better. The lyrics seem a little clearer.
Thanks, R D Smith! I did a bit of rebalancing the stems a bit. I still need to iron out a few things, but it’s def better that the original post. Thanks for taking the time.

Thanks, TripleM! I remember you from years ago, and you were a good source of help back then. :) This new version *should* be a bit more “vocal front”. Thanks!

Thanks mark skinner! You’re probably right on the “too much low end on the left” I’ve turned it down a bit since then and did indeed raise the right side as well. Every time I try to add reverb it’s always too much or not enough. I literally can’t find the right balance. There *is* reverb on the guitars, but is SUPER light. Thanks for the feedback!
