Reaper wont record

I'm using Reaper. I recently installed a new hard drive and now Reaper will not record, no signal appears on the VU meters. The sound card is Monitor Audio 2496 and it's driver is installed and it plays saved music and You Tube OK. What am I missing?

Have you selected the MA2496 as your audio input and output device in Reaper?

It's in preferences or something. I usually rummage through the file menu until I find something like "audio devices" or "hardware".

go 'Options'/'preferences'/'device'. Or just CTRL P

When you load up Reaper, does it say 'audio device closed' in the top right hand corner?

In Preferences it had "Input Device: MA Delta Audiophile" and I changed it to "Line 1/2 MA Delta Audiophile" and now it works. Thanks
