Does anyone still do dubstep around here? - 15 second preview

I know nothing about dubstep but it is kinda hard to comment on such a short clip. Sounds like a cool build up/transition.

Waiting for that one big final stinger at teh end, but it never came. I'm guessing that's how you want it. Leave the listener without resolution.

No idea if the dubstep part is good or not. I'm not even sure if I know what that is. :o

That's when we shout "pickitup!pickitup!pickitup!", and the ska part comes back in.

There used to be a few people who actually did dubstep on the forums (where's KCEarl when you need him?), but it seems to have gone out of vogue. :D

Always like VHS stuff. But this one was pretty short. Not much to say. But it was a pretty awesome 15 seconds. :D

Thanks, tripleM. The full song will be longer... and also a completely different genre.

i'm interested in hearing how this transitions back into (or from) ska. that's crazy. post more when you can? i used to listen to lots of ska in the mid-late 90s. Less Than Jake, Vandals, Aquabats, etc... ppl are still recording ska? I remember Mighty Mighty Bosstones came out with "Impression that I get" and then ska was the thing for a summer.

Yeah ska's still a thing. Five Iron Frenzy just got back together a few years back. A bunch of bands like Reel Big Fish and Big D & the Kid's Table never stopped performing (it's just that everyone else stopped caring). Problem is that we all got old. Most of us can't sprint in a circle for 4 hours a night anymore.

Here it is in the context of a rough mix of the song. (Shoot, those aren't even the real vocals yet!)

i like it...cacophony of ska :)

I don't know dubstep. I liked your intro, could become something good

Thanks, guys.
when do you make the track?
Last Sunday mostly. At least for the dubstep part - the rest we've been tracking off and on since May.
The drummer actually played most of the drums live in the studio back in May, but I replaced it all with samples since that seemed more appropriate to the genre.
