I've had audacity on other computers that have long since crashed.
I went to download it yesterday and was overwhelmed with the amount of different 3d party download sites. One even wanted to install a browser on my machine.
In short, who has a audacity download without the extra crap?
Thanks!

Thank you so much! That's what I was looking for before getting caught in the maze.☺

Or,,,,https://ninite.com/

They have a limited list of proggs to download and you have to use their installer but it is totally clean of all toolbars, registry cleaners and other ***t.

There is a long thread about this subject over at sos.com . Basically the frequency with which Flash want to update and thus catch you with unwanted crap. If you don't have them already, get Revounistaller and CCleaner. Not only does Revo uninstall but it gives you the option (at several levels, I always use the most severe one) of cleaning out much of the crap that programs leave in your registry. Ccleaner usually finds a bit more!

Another good tip if downloading anything the least suspect is to set a Restore point first.

I had to use MalwareBytes clean-up software last week. Installing Skype had put this pesky 'sweetpacks' thing on my puter - even though I uninstalled it, every few days it would re-set itself in all my browsers.

Didn't get that from ninite did you Mike?

Sourceforge has been taken over by a new company so there is loads of this bloated malware flying about when you try to download things like audacity from there.
