Lol. Good song choice. :D

Um, that doesn't sound too bad. I don't think it sounds like a "block logo" JTM45, but that's really not the issue. It does sound okay to me. It doesn't have the harmonic depth and crunchy richness that you'd get from a real "Plexi" but it does have a nice not-too-modern sound to it. Maybe try it with a different speaker. If you have a Greenback model to use, try that.

Do you know off hand of a good reference that I could check out? Like what song could an individual listen to that had that rig in it? Or an artist you know of that used one?

JTM45? Pretty much every AC/DC album. :D

At least the early ones. Angus is a JTM45 guy.

Here's a pretty good vid of an asian nerd with a JTM45.

Pretty cool tone Shan, especially since you used Line 6 stuff, I just could never get their stuff to sound right to me...

I was gonna mention Angus, but Greg beat me to it...I read an article last night that Angus uses a JTM45 head & a singe cab for his live sound...About everything on the amp set to "5", & that's his tone...Dunno how much of this is true though....

I've read stuff like that too. Or he keeps everything somewhere between 4 and 6. It could be true, but you know how stuff you read on the net goes. His live sound is more gained up than his recorded sound though, and he spends a lot of time on his SG's vol knob. Alls I know is his sound is consistently pretty much one of my favorite guitar tones of all time.

I just can't stop watching asian nerd at 0:36 This is successfully derailed my morning and i have distracted my office with my stifled lol's

Thanks miner. I admit that with that PODX3 i only really used a few amp sims, there is a ton of stuff in there i haven't even touched. And really, i didn't ever experiment with anything up until a few months ago. I 'assumed' if i set them all up like i would a real rig i would get the same results as a real rig. But i am finding i am getting better results from experimenting. For instance, I used to have my Hiwatt DR103 sim run out of a 412 T75 with the condenser mic sim. But when i switched the cab sim to a Blackface 2x12 with V30's and a 57 sim backed off to about 50% of room sound, that amp punched through so freakin' beautifully. That's when i started to change my mind about that stupid Pod. I was really close to turfing it on Kijiji.

These are all fantastic references. Thanks dudes!. At least i got something to work off of.

Seriously though, Asain nerd just made my thursday really awesome.

Another question, why does asian guy have a shower mat over his cab? Taming some highs?

Ancient chinese secret!

I don't know, that might not even be the cab he's using.

Here is a little clip of the Plexi I was talking about.

The book says that this sim is based off of a "Marshall JTM 45 'Block logo' head complete with a gold Plexiglass front panel" For a simulated set up i have a 4x12 Cab with Celestion T75's a SM57 Backed of to 66% In Line6 language. It's a sim. I had a condensor mic on there but it REALLY fattened up the bottom end like really bad. I think with a bit of tweaking i could find a use for this sim.

Too fast for even wanting to try

Is that "Too Fast for Love" by Mötley Crue?

Good sound

It is yes. But i played the Donnas version of it because it's way easier and frankly a much better version IMHO. I'd rather listen to the girls tell me i'm too fast for love, than Vince Neil.

For real. I couldn't resist.

I tried to find the article about Angus I mentioned, but damned if I can find it...

The nerd in the vid just has a throw-rug over that cab, I never even noticed it until Shan pointed it out...I had a few about like that in my old ISO cab to muffle it down, so if he's using that cab, he's got that thing over the top speakers to kill some of the sound...He sure is one cool dude...:laughings:.

No toans the last couple days, I've been tracking vocals.....and pretty much confirmed to myself what I've known all along...I'm a terrible, terrible singer....

gotta go gig so I don't have time to find it but an article in the latest Guitar Player has an interview with someone involved with recording Angus and he say's an important part of his sound was a very early prototype wireless unit he had given to him.
kinda like the Echoplex pre-amp was a part of some players sound ..... supposedly they were in the studio and he couldn't get his guitar to sound like what he'd heard live ..... added the wireless and bingo.
I'll find it when I get home tonight.

That's true. Angus's Schaffer-Vega wireless is stuff of legend. Good luck finding one. I think one dude makes reproductions of them.

Yeah Bob, that's the Schaffer thing....there's a guy who makes 'em now in pedal form too, they're pretty pricey, but from what I've heard about 'em, they're pretty good...Just guessing, it's like a clean boost though, dunno myself, never tried one, but here's a link:

The Schaffer Replica?

The guy Fil/Solo Dallas does nail the AC-DC tones in his vids though, I've watched lots of 'em...
