It's a good song but I can't get my head around doing it so nicely.
The aggression is part of the humour of the orig.
Other than the drums is fine though.

I don't need "Dutch courage" to yell into a microphone with no one around. In fact, I have been known to yell into microphones that I wasn't supposed to be yelling into, and with lots of people around. I just generally find myself being in a recording mood after being out carousing. As far as voice quality sober vs. drunk... My normal voice is smooth and high-pitched enough that any amount of raspiness or lower tone is an improvement in my opinion, so while some people might prefer my sober tone, I think my "been drinking" tone is way cooler.

Back to the original point of all this- you sounded good on this one.

Right on buddy. It took me many years just to figure out how to sound a way I don't absolutely hate. I always tried to "sing" and hated the way I sound recorded. Hearing my own voice playing back has often times being like nails on a chalk board LOL. I still am uneasy about some aspects of my voice, but I keep working on it. If I never figure out how to sound "good" to myself lol, at least it was fun trying. I've also taken to changing keys as well and/or even using a capo if necessary. So, I'm not singing in the same key as the original either. I try to stay in my comfort zone. Something to consider :D

LOL right. When I do a cover it's either too hard or too soft. I never try to do a cover exactly like the original. Really I was just picking around on the guitar when I figured out how easy it was to change simple punk rock songs in to bass walking bluegrass style songs. After practicing it for a while I was amazed how funny it was and fun to play as well.
 
I am no where near a drummer and find that getting good drums sounds is difficult. I paid the money to get Addictive Drums 2 and its been one of the best purchases for me thus far. You can shape any of the drum sounds with individual effects, EQ, and levels. It also comes with loops that sound real and better than anything I can come up with. So far the couple partial songs I have posted have gotten great comments on the drum parts. Nothing replaces a real drummer but for those of us that can't play the drums its a great tool.

It looks the same as ezdrummer and sounds about the same too.
 
Hey - I enjoyed this - the double tracked vocals sounded great. As mentioned above, the drums are your big weak point here, but they didn't totally ruin it. I'd reduce the panning on the crashes if you can and I often find a good, hard squish with a compressor makes them sound a bit less fake.

Yeah I can do that. I haven't gotten around to working on it any more, but once I do I'll tame those damn crashes if I end up keeping the drums. Thanks for the feedback :D
