Audio Interface for home studio

Absolutely Dave, I didn't mind getting a great interface that might not be upgraded because I'm one of those guys who thinks most of Apple's OS X updates since Lion haven't been all that amazing, at least from a music production standpoint. Every functionality I had back when Lion was new is still what I need today. With that said, this is a big deal for many other people out there, so I certainly wouldn't recommend what I did to everyone, I just think the Impact Twin is a fantastic value for what you get. I was especially shocked to find that it was sold for 330 brand new on amazon, and another listing on amazon showed 225 for the exact same brand-new interface, so that deal brought out the GAS in me.

Having said that, there's certainly nothing wrong with a 2 in 2 out, especially those listed. Personally, I was considering the 2i4 as I wanted to have MIDI capabilities as well, should I get a controller(s) in the future.

Either way, I really valued the bit of help I got on HR regarding an interface, and to the OP I would recommend using BroKen_H's stickied post. Hopefully the OP will choose from one of those mentioned above because when it comes to a starter interface, these are pretty much the staples in that pricerange.

Too true. Apple seem to be heavily focussed on mobile integration these days.
I can't fault them though. It kinda shows how everything else is working well under the hood and they can piss around with niceties.

OSX has, in my view, been tip top since 10.6.

I'm not one for being bang up to date but I was quite pleased, and surprised, when I left my phone outside by mistake and my macbook rang! :eek:

I've owned Presonus Firepods, Presonus Digimax LT's, and Tascam units. My current set-up is the Roland Studio Capture with the Presonus Faderport as a controller. I HIGHLY recommend you take a good look with the CAPTURE units Roland offers. They come in 2, 4, 8, and 16 input options.

As you choose your input device, one piece of advice I can give is...DON'T CUT YOURSELF SHORT ON INPUTS. If you know you can currently fill 2 inputs now, get a 4 input unit if you can afford it. You'll kick yourself later. The biggest hassle I had when I started piecing together my studio 20 years ago was not having enough inputs and constantly needing to unplug/plug in those instruments/devices I wanted to record. Learn from my mistake. :-)

I think although it appears this keyboard is only a 2 track sequencer or audio, you should have MIDI.....

If one day you do decide you need it, you are screwed.....
