Edit

After doing some research and getting some helpful info from this site, I'm satisfied that I know where I stand with regard to sound quality of my recordings. Deleting the original message.

Links aren't working.

Edit.
Honestly? I think you need a new approach and I'm not talking about your music.

The music, record and production is good.
I have no doubt people will list helpful criticisms for you because there's always room for that,
but there's no need for your extensive apologetic prelude.

Have a bit of faith, friend. :)

Thanks. They worked for me if I clicked the actual link underneath the graphic.

Didn't mean to waste your time, my friend. I could have done an apology in one sentence, rather than make you go through a few paragraphs!

Thanks for the opinion on the sound. I could have done without the armchair psychology, but hey, this is the internet, it's gonna happen, right? :)

If that's how you react then, yes, that's how it's going to happen.

My reply to your thread was a compliment with a smiley face.
I'm telling you you're good and you don't need to make apologies for yourself.
If that hurts, it's not for you.

Whoa! :)

I believe there's a misunderstanding here. :)

I wasn't offended by anything you wrote. Any comments you saw in the original post as indicative of one lacking self-worth is just me attempting humor. It fails more often than it succeeds. See? There I go again! ;)

I was just joshing with the "armchair psychologist" comment. Let us have no misunderstandings between us. And I do appreciate the compliment.

Heh. Alright, cool. :)

We get a lot of shameless attention seekers (who suck) pouring through here and I figured you're far above that.
We also get a lot of people who just flip as soon as there's any kind of criticism, but I guess you're above that too! ;)

I listened to black coffee a couple of times and, like I say, I'm sure you could get some advice and tips on here,
but nothing jumped out at me.
It actually sounded pretty professional overall.

There's one member in particular here who I could see giving you some great tips on your drums.
Maybe move your stuff to the mp3 mixing clinic?

I really do appreciate the feedback. I didn't mean to come off as a prick, especially not on the internet! I believe there's an old politically incorrect axiom about people who argue on the internet which you may have heard. :)

I have off today so I probably subconsciously decided to write lots of unnecessary blather along with my original request because I thought it was amusing and I have nothing better to do today. How could I have known that someone would actually read what I wrote? :)

I've found that drums are the trickiest thing to deal with as far as optimizing the sound of all this stuff. Any tips would be most welcome.

I haven't but I bet I'd enjoy it. :)

It's funny looking back. I suppose you can never tell someone's tone on the internet.

Hey, welcome to HR man. I hope you get plenty from it and give some back. ;)

Give the clinic a try. That's the place for feedback on your mixed.
Drums is the main area where I usually look for advice so I'm not the best person to comment.
Hell, I rely on midi instruments for mine.

I hate the Beatles with every cell in my body, but I do love Black Flag. Will give a listen later.

Now you're talking my language. Usually the more hammered I was when I did a BF song, the better it turned out. Well, maybe mostly worse, but the vocals were always better.

These are several months old and I've gotten better recording techniques since then, but if you are into Black Flag you might like these. Black Coffee's a great song, for later Black Flag. Older BF songs like these still blow it out of the water. Though not necessarily my versions.

This should answer all your questions. Well, the one about the cliché regarding arguing on the internet, anyway.

Rooster Teeth · Arguing on the internet is like running in the special olympics. Even if you win, your'e still retarded.

Yeah, you never know if someone's being a sarcastic dickhead or being serious. Until today my solution to that problem was to not talk to people on the internet. I might be getting too hooked on this home recording-audiophile thing, it's got me talking to strangers!

Whoops. I thought that was going to display as a URL. Oh well, live and learn.

Thanks, buddy. I actually edited and deleted the link in the original thread post. I forgot I included a couple links in a subsequent response to some one.

Glad you liked it. In case you were curious about the first one I had posted, here's Black Coffee, which is a more recent recording than the other two. I learned a little bit about mastering in the past month or so, whereas before that I just assumed it didn't make much of a difference. The screen name is not a joke, you see.
