You've got a sharp eye but you're still missed a couple of other changes...and now that I think about it, it still needs one more missing component on the deck!! Figure that one out and I'll add it in! ;)

Cheers! :)

I'm at a loss, Jeff...but dying I know!

Here's a fairly obscure item from the era before digital reverb. This is the AKG BX 10 studio/touring use, spring reverberation unit made in Austria. This beast is rack mount width, a similar depth and about 16 inches high. So there's obviously some series sized tanks in there. This was part of a 3 model line which also offered up the smaller BX 5 stereo unit and the much larger BX 20 model which featured a vertical spring tank and resembled a large wooden tower speaker and came with a hard wired remote, similar to the EMT units of the day and was strictly made for studio use.

Anyway, here's the BX 10 for now...

Staying on the spring reverb theme a bit longer, I did a render of the Fostex 3180. Why a render? Because there's no decent head on shots of this unit on the web, so I cobbled one together out of a few usable detailed shots of things like the knobs. The rest of it was hand drawn.

Anyway, here she be...

Thanks Dave! :)

I'm sure me and my camera could have a field day over at your place! :D

Cheers! :)

Thanks Ron! :)

Next up, staying with Fostex for the moment, the infamous A-8 which was designed to go after Tascam's client base by offering up less expensive alternatives. I can still remember the snobbery between the fans of both of these companies! :D

Of course, many versions followed the A-8 which had improved features but the A-8 was first one so I wanted to include it here. The image, like the one above it is a rendering of several different images as there's very few decent images of it out there on the web.

I still have my Fostex a2 but don't use it because I have a otari now. They were pretty nice machines.

I was looking for A-2 pics but couldn't find anything usable. Care to take a nice head on shot of yours and send it to me via PM so I can ad it to the thread?

Cheers! :)

A few months back I started a thread about Tascam's mysterious and illusive CF-20, a two channel chorus flanger that followed the same design lines as the system enhancement series of gear. At that time, I could only find a smaller sized image of it and from an oddball angle that didn't lend itself well to being turned into a decent wallpaper shot. Today, I finally got up to courage to try a render of it in Photoshop borrowing much of the components from sweetbeats' RS-20 reverb unit which had all the same knobs and switched, just in different places with different labels and different colors! Amazingly, this project only took me a few short hours to put together, so I must be getting a bit more proficient at doing these sorts of Frankensteins! :D

Anyway, here she be, the TASCAM CF-20 official wallpaper shot!

My wife is the photographer. I'll try to get her to do that this weekend.

nnnnice!!!

Thanks guys! :)

Deciding while I was still feeling adventurous, I'd also do up a render of the DL-20: the stereo compressor limiter from the same Japan only market! This one took a bit longer to do as there was more work required but was worth the effort as there's just no decent pics out there of this beast either, so I figured...why not! :D

Anyway, here's the TASCAM DL-20 official wallpaper...

Fantastic work! You create a significant and substantial something out of virtually nothing...

Thanks again, Cory. :)

But in all seriousness, if it weren't for your efforts to take those quality shots of your RS-20B, I'd have a much harder time trying to create these "missing link" renderings as they give me a high quality building block in which I can then add, subtract and rearrange all the details from!

Earlier efforts I've done like the GA-40 noise gate now look woefully fake in comparison to these newest ones but that also gives me encouragement to maybe try re-dong that one too one day!

Cheers! :)

And speaking of the GA-40, here's take two on a render with a few small refinements...
