What goes where? MIDI

Here is what I need to hookup and communicate with cakewalk sonar x3 (just upgraded) and other software.

Windows 7 PC is hooked up with Turtle Beach USB 1x1 (MIDI out / MIDI in)
I also have a Edirol FA-66 MIDI port In/Out
and... Roland Sound Canvas SC-88 sound module MIDI In A/B and MIDI out/Thru
and... M-Audio Oxygen 49 MIDI Out only.

What is the hookup for everything to run smoothly. very low latency if not none.

Not at all sure what you need the Turtle Beach device for? The latency will be dictated largely by the Edirol AI. Make sure you have the latest, W7, ASIO drivers for it and you should be using a Texas Instruments Firewire chipset. A quick Google showed me that the FA-66 is not THAT well thought of for latency.

However, the Sound Module should give you virtially latency free playback, it is after all really just the MIDI to noise making guts of a big synth!

I dare say there are several ways to rig some or all of that kit but the manuals will surely give diagrams? The great thing about MIDI is that you cannot damage anything no matter how you plug it up. Might not work, might feedback, but it won't smoke!

Oh yes! You will need some DIN to DIN cables. Don't buy special expensive jobs, just bog S 5 pin wired pin for pin (beware of "crossed" tape to tape cables) are more than good enough. If you can find them the V old computer keyboard DINs work fine and are dirt cheap at fairs.

Okay, hook the M-Audio out to the SC88 in (either will do) Midi through from the 88 to the midi in of your card (try the TB and the Edirol and see which has the best latency. I'd bet on the TB). Should get you into your software.
